Chiefs Continue To Dominate With Another Impressive Victory

The Six Nations Chiefs (11-1) traveled to face the Owen Sound North Stars (4-8) in Major Series Lacrosse action Saturday evening at the Meaford-St. Vincent Community Centre.

The goaltending match-up had Doug Jamieson in net for Six Nations facing Kaleb Martin in net for the North Stars.

As expected, the Six Nations Chiefs controlled the majority of the game.  What wasn’t expected was how tough the North Stars would be able to play then for almost half of the game. 

The game was tied 2-2 in the second period when Six Nations rhythmed off five goals in 7:29 to change the complexion of the game.  Add another seven goals in the third period, and the Chiefs power was on display once again.  The Chiefs win handily,14-5.

Shayne Jackson (3g,2a), Lyle Thompson (2g,4a), Ian MacKay (2g,2a), Randy Staats (2g,2a), and Ryan Smith (2g,1a) led the way for Six Nations.  

Jackson Webster (1g,4a) was involved in every goal for the North Stars, with Carter Moran (0g,3a) being another playmaker.

To The Game:

The Six Nations Chiefs got on the board first when Shakorennawis Swamp converted a Randy Staats pass at 4:23, but Liam McGrath finished a Jackson Webster feed on the power-play to tie the game at 6:35.

Ian MacKay scored from the top of the crease off a Brendan Bomberry pass at 13:08 to give the Chiefs the lead once again.

After one period, Six Nations 2 Owen Sound 1.

Second Period:

Owen Sound tied the game when Colton Padgett converted a lead pass from Jackson Webster at 5:40, but the Chiefs would then find another gear, erupting for five goals.

Dhane Smith blasted a high to low shot off a Lyle Thompson pass at 7:32, followed by Ian MacKay with another goal from in close off a Dhane Smith pass at 9:23.

Shayne Jackson sandwiched a Randy Staats shorthanded goal with a pair of low to low lasers from the side of the net  for a 7-2 Chiefs lead.

Jackson Webster stopped the bleeding with an outside blast off a Colton Padgett feed on the power-play at 18;06.

After two periods, Six Nations 7 Owen Sound 3.

Lakers

Third Period:

Kason Tarbell opened the third period scoring with a blast off a Lyle Thompson feed at 0:13 seconds followed by Shayne Jackson and Ryan Smith with markers to bring the game to 10-3.

Xander Derkatz got Owen Sound back on the board finishing a Jackson Webster pass at 8:42, but Randy Staats answered with a sidearm snipe off a Lyle Thompson pass at 11:53.

Josh Sanchez kept battling for Owen Sound finishing a Webster feed at 14:36, but again the Chiefs replied with Lyle Thompson blasting a howitzer from the outside off a Shayne Jackson pass at 16:40.

Ryan Smith and Thompson then added their second goals each to finish the game.

Final score, Six Nations 14 Owen Sound 5.
