
The Brooklin Lacrosse Club (9-6) traveled west to face the Oakville Rock (5-9) Monday night in Major Series Lacrosse action at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Steve Orleman in net for Brooklin facing Troy Holowchuk in net for the Rock.
A great start from Brooklin dug a hole that Oakville just couldn’t climb out of. Down 5-0, the Rock put together a solid second period to climb within two goals. However, Steve Orleman and the Brooklin defense tightened up enough to come out on top with a 10-7 victory.
Brady Kearnan (2g,1a), Zach Miller (2g,0a(, and Jacob Hickey (2g,0a) led the way for Brooklin. Sam LeClair (2g,0a), and Jack McAlpine (1g,3a) led the way for the Rock.
To The Game:
Brady Kearnan opened the scoring for Brooklin with an outside blast off a Will MacLeod pass at 3:35, followed by Chris Boushy with a great move from in front off a Sean Westley feed at 8:07.
Zach Miller increased the Brooklin lead with a low to low shot off a Luke Keenan pass at 13:28, followed by Jacob Hickey with a bounced shot that beat Holowchuk to the stickside off a Mike Byrne pass at 16:02.
After one period, Brooklin 4 Oakville 0.
Second Period:
Luke Keenan opened the second period scoring increasing the Brooklin lead to five on a low shot to the corner off a Brady Kearnan pass at 3:00.
The Rock got rolling with Luke Robinson scoring on the power-play off a Jack McAlpine pass at 4:27, but Mike Byrne answered in transition off an Alexis Simard pass at 5:58.
Oakville came back with Mason Kamminga scoring in transition off a Phil Mazzuca pass at 8:13, followed by Thomas McDonald finishing a Sheldon Burns feed at 9:22.
Zach Miller scored his second of the night for Brooklin off a Michael White pass at 12:53, but the Rock tightened the game with a pair of late goals themselves.
Jack McAlpine converted a Zane Dalpe pass at 12:53, followed by Brian Jackman with an outside blast on the power-play off a McAlpine pass at 18:02.
After two periods, Brooklin 7 Oakville 5.

Third Period:
Brady Kearnan gave Brooklin a bit of breathing room with a blast off a Sean Westley pass at 0:26 seconds, but Sam LeClair answered for the Rock with a laser to the top corner off a Jack McAlpine pass at 1:11.
Jake Darlison added a transition goal for Brooklin on a great individual effort at 1:42, but again Sam LeClair answered with a blast that beat Steve Orleman stickside off a Ty English pass at 3:32.
Jacob Hickey added a late empty net goal to seal the deal at 19:19.
Final score, Brooklin 10 Oakville 7.
Shots on goal favored Brooklin 54-41.
