PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Riverhounds clinched their eighth consecutive USL Championship playoff berth with a 2–1 victory against Indy Eleven at Highmark Stadium on Saturday night in front of 5,618. The result extends Pittsburgh’s postseason streak and underscores its consistency at the top end of the table.

Indy Eleven, the only club the Riverhounds have faced every season since 2018, entered play with a record of 13 of 16 prior meetings decided by a single goal. Saturday’s contest proved no different, as both sides traded chances in a closely fought opening half.

In the 38th minute, Danny Griffin broke the deadlock by converting Robbie Mertz’s perfectly weighted through ball, giving Pittsburgh a 1–0 cushion heading into the break. The goal energized the home side, which dominated possession and tempo through the remainder of the half.

The Riverhounds doubled their advantage in the 76th minute when Sean Suber unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Indy Eleven mounted a late response, with reducing the deficit in the 88th minute, but Pittsburgh’s back line remained resolute, preserving the 2–1 scoreline.

Pittsburgh now turns its focus to a road fixture against Monterey Bay FC at Cardinale Stadium next Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. EST.
