Week 19 picks:

“Muffler” Mike:

Las Vegas vs. Colorado

Colorado. The Mammoth have already punched their playoff ticket, but are in danger of losing out on a first round home game. This opponent is their best (and perhaps only) remaining chance to get right before the postseason.

Rochester vs. Halifax

Halifax. Picking the Thunderbirds in what I expect will be a knock-down, drag-out affair, with both teams in full desperation mode to make the playoffs.

San Diego vs. Toronto

Toronto. As much as I’d like to pick the Seals to exact revenge and move closer to the final playoff spot, I believe the Rock offense is more consistent right now, despite last week’s setback against Philadelphia.

Vancouver vs. Buffalo

Vancouver. The Bandits are white-hot, playing their best ball of the season with their backs to the wall. But I’m going with a Warriors team that is rested after a bye last week, and is 7-1 on the road this season.

Oshawa vs. Calgary

Calgary. With both teams playing for pride after promising seasons got derailed, I’m predicting a split series, with each home team winning.

Shawn:

Las Vegas vs Colorado

Pick – Colorado

I’m not sure what to make of this Las Vegas team. A two-goaltender system seems to be working for them, but for how long? Colorado has struggled as of late, but there is enough talent to right the ship.

Rochester vs Halifax

Pick – Rochester

The Knighthawks looked much better last week in their win over Oshawa, and I expect that to continue. Inconsistency is an issue with Halifax. They can put up good performances when the mind is in the game.

San Diego vs Toronto

Pick – Toronto

I scratched my head over this as they are pretty evenly matched. I’m going to give the slight edge to the Rock. I really like how this young lineup is shaping up, and CJ Kirst and Owen Hiltz could be determining factors.

Vancouver vs Buffalo

Pick – Buffalo

Going out on a limb a bit here. Buffalo is back looking like the champs that they are. If anyone can beat the Bandits right now, it’s the Warriors. However, I think Buffalo has all the momentum.

Oshawa vs Calgary

Pick – Calgary

Despite Oshawa still not being mathematically eliminated and Calgary having been, I feel the Roughnecks still have a lot to play for. There is a ton of upside with Calgary, and it’s a matter of continuing to improve and coming together as a team.

Gary:

Las Vegas vs Colorado

Colorado wins.

Though Colorado has had their struggles, if Dillon Ward is on his game, they will be hard to beat.  Their is just too much firepower on the Mammoth for the Desert Dogs to contain.

Rochester vs Halifax

Rochester wins.

The Knighthawks have re-found their mojo.  Randy Mearns is a players coach, and the Knighthawks will go through a wall for him!  Halifax has had their issues, and though they are getting better, this could be a long night for them.

San Diego vs Toronto

Toronto wins.

The Rock have had some rough games this year, but have followed all of them up with a strong performance.  San Diego have had their share of mediocre games themselves.   This will be the game of the week!  However, look for the Rock to prevail at home.

Vancouver vs Buffalo

Vancouver wins.

If the Warriors want to be the champs this year, the road starts on this game.  If they can’t beat the Bandits at home during the season, they won’t beat them in the playoffs.

Oshawa vs Calgary

Oshawa wins.

I still believe in the FireWolves, and their ability to play hard & win.  Though the Roughnecks are in the right direction, they still have some growing to do.

Warriors

Pat:

Las Vegas vs Colorado

Colorado Mammoth

Rochester vs Halifax

Rochester Knighthawks

San Diego vs Toronto

Toronto Rock

Vancouver vs Buffalo

Buffalo Bandits

Oshawa vs Calgary

Calgary Roughnecks

Caden:

Las Vegas vs Colorado → Colorado

Colorado just feels like the more complete team right now—they’ve been hovering around that top tier and usually show up in these spots. Vegas can score, but I don’t trust them to keep up for a full 60.

Rochester vs Halifax → Halifax

Halifax has that legit contender vibe (they’ve been in the playoff mix consistently), while Rochester tends to be a little streaky. If this gets tight late, I trust Halifax way more to close it.

San Diego vs Toronto → Toronto

Toronto just plays a cleaner, more disciplined game, and that usually wins out in these matchups. San Diego can explode, but they’re also prone to those “what just happened” quarters.

Vancouver vs Buffalo → Buffalo

Buffalo is one of the league’s heavyweights—top-end talent and big-game experience. Vancouver is good, but Buffalo is the kind of team that punishes mistakes immediately.

Oshawa vs Calgary → Calgary

This one feels like a grit game, and Calgary thrives in that style. Oshawa has talent, but Calgary tends to drag teams into their pace and make it ugly (in a good way for them).
