Del Bianco Shuts Down ‘Bellies Offence in Adanacs Win

Christian Del Bianco stonewalled the New Westminster Salmonbellies, leading the Coquitlam Adanacs to a 10-2 win on Saturday night.

Del Bianco allowed just two goals in the first period before playing shutout lacrosse the rest of the way, stopping all 26 shots he faced over the final two periods.

Thomas Semple led the way for Coquitlam’s offence with two goals and two assists, while Adam Noakes finished with a goal and two assists.

The lone goal scorers for the Salmonbellies were Lukas Nielsen and Noah Armitage. Ashton Leclaire played the majority of the game in goal for New Westminster, stopping 43 of 52 shots in the loss. Liam Froese came on in relief, playing 2:47 and stopping the only shot he faced.

First Period

New Westminster struck quickly to open the game, with Armitage scoring just 19 seconds into the first period to give the Salmonbellies an early lead.

Coquitlam responded when Dennon Armstrong scored at the 2:48 mark to tie the game.

The Adanacs then took the lead at the 14:51 mark in transition as Del Bianco found Remo Schenato to make it 2-1.

New Westminster tied the game again when Nielsen found the back of the net with 4:07 remaining in the period.

However, Del Bianco and the Adanacs shut down the Salmonbellies for the remainder of the game.

Jalen Chaster rounded out the first-period scoring with 2:21 left on the clock as the Adanacs carried a 3-2 lead into the intermission.

Second Period

It was all Coquitlam in the second period, as the Adanacs outscored the Salmonbellies 3-0.

Thomas Semple opened the scoring at the 2:27 mark on the power play off a pass from Clark Walter.

Noakes then made it a 5-2 game when he scored off a Bobby Kidd III pass at 9:50.

Matthew Delmonico rounded out the second-period scoring with 5:34 remaining as the Adanacs took a 6-2 lead into the third period.

Third Period

Coquitlam kept its foot on the gas in the third period to secure the weekend split.

James Rahe scored on the power play 1:08 into the third period to extend the Adanacs’ lead.

Semple made it 8-2 for Coquitlam with an unassisted goal at the 5:52 mark, followed by Kidd III scoring with 3:46 left on the clock.

Robbie Turpin added an empty-net goal with 2:48 remaining to make the final 10-2 in favour of the Adanacs.
