
It was a goaltending duel as the Maple Ridge Burrards came away with a 5-3 win over the Coquitlam Adanacs on Sunday night.
The win was a big one for the Burrards, who improved to 4-0 and moved two games clear of the Victoria Shamrocks and Nanaimo Timbermen, who sit tied for second place at 2-1.
Goaltending was the story of the game. Maple Ridge’s Jack Kask outdueled Coquitlam’s Christian Del Bianco for the win. Kask stopped 39 of 42 shots, while Del Bianco made 39 saves on 44 shots in the loss.
Both goaltenders pitched a shutout in the second period, combining to stop 25 shots.
The Burrards were led by Marcus Klarich and Tyler Pace, who each recorded a goal and three assists. For the Adanacs, Dennon Armstrong had a goal and an assist to lead Coquitlam. Also scoring for the Adanacs were Thomas Semple and Bobby Kidd III.
First Period
The majority of the scoring on Sunday night came in the first period.
Semple got the Adanacs on the board just 37 seconds into the game.
On the power play, Pace scored off an assist from Klarich at the 7:45 mark to tie the game.
Coquitlam regained the lead at 11:16 when Jalen Chaster found Armstrong to make it 2-1.
However, Maple Ridge responded with a pair of power-play markers. Payton Cormier scored on the man advantage with 1:59 remaining in the period, and Riley Loewen added another with 15 seconds left as the Burrards took a 3-2 lead into the break.

Second Period
It was all about the goaltenders in the second period as neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Del Bianco stopped all 13 shots he faced in the frame, while Kask turned aside 12 shots to keep the game at 3-2.
Third Period
The goaltenders continued to put on a show before the Burrards finally broke through 11:05 into the third period on an unassisted goal by Declan Fitzpatrick.
Coquitlam replied when Bobby Kidd III scored an unassisted marker at the 12:46 mark to keep the Adanacs within one.
Klarich put the game away with 6:34 remaining as the Burrards won the goaltending duel by a 5-3 score.
