
Robert Church scored a sock trick to lead the Coquitlam Adanacs to a dominant 13-4 win over the Burnaby Lakers on Saturday night in WLA action.
The win keeps the Adanacs in the hunt for the top spots in the WLA standings. They improved to 8-5 and sit behind the Maple Ridge Burrards (10-4) for second place.
On Saturday night, Church finished with six goals and two assists for eight points. Kean Moon had a hat trick and an assist for four points. David Charney recorded four assists, while Connor Robinson had a goal and three assists.
Christian Del Bianco had a relatively easy night in goal, making 23 saves as the Adanacs outshot Burnaby 50-27.
Ryan Favaro led the Lakers with two of Burnaby’s four goals. Ethan M’Lot and Finn Halladay each had two assists, while Aden Marcher and Ben Stewart also scored.
Marc Rippberger got the start and stopped 18 of 26 shots before being replaced by Keegan Melenychuk, who stopped 19 of 24 shots.
First Period
Coquitlam jumped out to a quick start, taking a 2-0 lead early in the game.
Dennon Armstrong opened the scoring two minutes into the first period, followed by Church at the 5:43 mark.
The Lakers responded with a two-goal run to tie the game. Marcher scored unassisted at 7:55 before Favaro added a power-play marker at 12:58.
The Adanacs then went on a seven-goal run spanning the first and second periods to take control of the game.
Moon scored unassisted at 13:52, and Coady Adamson made it 4-2 just under a minute later.
Moon rounded out the first-period scoring with 2:15 left on the clock as the Adanacs took a 5-2 lead into the first intermission.

Second Period
The Adanacs continued the onslaught with four more goals to open the second period.
Church scored 1:12 into the frame, and Robinson made it a five-goal game at the 5:23 mark.
Church struck again on the power play at 7:16, and Adam Noakes rounded out the seven-goal run at the 8:34 mark.
Burnaby finally got back on the scoresheet at 11:21 when Liam Ronan set up Stewart to make it 9-3.
Coquitlam answered with a pair of goals to close out the period. Moon scored at 12:31, and Church rounded out the second-period scoring with 6:56 remaining as the Adanacs built an 11-3 lead heading into the third.
Third Period
Church scored his fifth goal of the game early in the third period off an assist from Noakes.
Favaro replied for the Lakers on the power play at the 9:44 mark.
Church then completed his sock trick at the 11:38 mark to make the final score 13-4.
