The Burnaby Lakers finished their 2026 WLA season with a lopsided loss, falling 15-3 to the Victoria Shamrocks on Sunday evening.
Burnaby finished the campaign with a record of 4-14 and will finish seventh in the overall standings.
Victoria has already wrapped up first place with a record of 15-2 and has one more game against the New Westminster Salmonbellies on Thursday before the playoffs begin.
Zach Manns led the way for Victoria with four goals and four assists, while Brodie Wade had two goals and five assists. Frank Scigliano got the start in goal and turned aside 38 of 44 shots for the win.
For Burnaby, Jake Young scored two of the Lakers’ three goals, while Alex Cartwright had the other.
Marc Rippberger played the majority of the game, stopping 32 of 44 shots in 49:09 of work. Arjun Gill played 10:14 and stopped 10 of 13 shots.
First Period
Victoria wasted little time taking control of the game.
Manns opened the scoring at 2:12 before adding a goal on the delayed penalty just over two minutes later. He completed the natural hat trick at 12:23, giving the Shamrocks a commanding 3-0 lead.
Young got Burnaby on the board at 14:09, but the momentum didn’t last long.
Just eight seconds later, Nate Wade restored the three-goal cushion before Brodie Wade and Elijah Gash added late goals to send the Shamrocks into the first intermission with a commanding 6-1 lead.
Second Period
Victoria continued to pull away in the middle frame.
Chris Wardle scored on the power play at 8:53 before Nick Chaykowsky and Wardle added even-strength goals less than a minute apart to stretch the lead to 9-1.
Brodie Wade capped the Shamrocks’ scoring in the period with another power-play marker at 17:14, giving Victoria a 10-1 advantage.
Cartwright scored late in the period for Burnaby, but the Lakers still trailed 10-2 after 40 minutes.
Third Period
The Shamrocks never let up in the final period.
Koen Block opened the scoring before Kyle Pepper, Cole Pickup and Patrick Dodds all found the back of the net as Victoria built a 14-2 lead.
Young scored his second goal of the night for Burnaby at 16:30, but Manns answered with his fourth goal of the game in the final two minutes as the Lakers suffered a lopsided loss, 15-3.
