Adanacs Even WLA Semifinal Series With Win Over Burrards

The Coquitlam Adanacs evened their WLA semifinal series with an 8-3 win over the Maple Ridge Burrards on Friday night.

Both goaltenders were outstanding in this game. Christian Del Bianco made 38 saves on 41 shots, while Jack Kask faced a ton of rubber, stopping 48 of 56 shots.

The Adanacs were led by Robert Church with a goal and four assists. Jalen Chaster finished the game with a goal and three assists, while Adam Noakes had a hat trick.

For Maple Ridge, Tyler Pace had two of the Burrards’ three goals. Josh Mills had two assists, while Nathan Miller had Maple Ridge’s other goal.

First Period

The Adanacs opened the scoring just 1:48 into the game when David Charney scored off assists from Church and Connor Robinson.

Maple Ridge answered on the power play at 4:05, with Pace scoring off a feed from Mills to tie the game.

Coquitlam regained the lead late in the period when Church scored on the power play with 39 seconds left, giving the Adanacs a 2-1 lead after the opening 20 minutes.

Second Period

Coquitlam took control in the second period, scoring three times while limiting the Burrards to one goal.

Noakes extended the Adanacs’ lead at 5:17 with a shorthanded goal, assisted by Kean Moon and Ethan Ticehurst.

Ticehurst then made it 4-1 at 7:30 before Chaster added another power-play goal at 11:37, with James Rahe and Church picking up the assists.

Pace scored his second of the night on the power play at 15:41 to bring the Burrards back within three, but the Adanacs carried a 5-2 advantage into the final period.

Third Period

The Adanacs put the game away with three goals in the third period.

Rahe scored on the power play at 9:25 before Noakes added his second of the night on another man advantage at 13:09.

Noakes completed his hat trick less than two minutes later, with assists from Chaster and Church.

Miller scored for the Burrards with just 14 seconds remaining, but the deficit was too large to overcome as the Adanacs secured the 8-3 victory.

The Adanacs’ win now ties the WLA semifinal best-of-five series 1-1, with a pivotal Game 3 on Sunday night.
