The Riverhounds welcomed the Eastern Conference–leading Tampa Bay Rowdies to FNB Stadium for a marquee matchup between two of the division’s top sides. Pittsburgh set the tone early, generating a strong opportunity when Eliot Goldthorp found space just outside the box, only for his effort to be turned away by a well‑timed defensive block.
Tampa Bay answered in the 9th minute. Nathan Dossantos met a driven cross from Marco Micaletto and directed a header from the center of the area, but Nico Campuzano was positioned perfectly to make the save. Pittsburgh quickly countered with another quality look. Owen Mikoy broke free for a left‑footed attempt from close range, narrowly missing the far post after being set up by Sam Bassett’s delivery following a set‑piece sequence. The Rowdies maintained their pressure as the half wore on, with Dossantos once again rising to meet a dangerous delivery—this time a corner from Laurence Wyke—and directing a header toward the left side of the six‑yard area, only for it to drift narrowly wide. Moments later, in the 27th minute, Max Schneider was booked for a reckless challenge as the intensity of the match continued to build.
Both sides produced additional chances in the closing stages of the half, but neither could find the breakthrough, sending the teams into the interval level at 0–0.
The second half opened with a Rowdies MD Myers right footed shot from the centre of the box that sailed high assisted by Dion Acoff with a cross. The Hounds almost cashed in minutes later: Trevor Amann’s header from the centre of the box is close, but misses to the right. Assisted by Sam Bassett with a cross following a corner. The Hounds’s sustained pressure earned a corner in the 59th minute, culminating in a look for Charles Ahl, whose effort sailed just over the top corner. Ahl remained active in the attack and produced another promising chance in the 66th minute, driving a right‑footed attempt that ultimately missed the target.
As the match wore on, the intensity escalated. In the 74th minute, Amann was forcefully ushered over the touchline by Tampa Bay’s Laurence Wyke, drawing no whistle from the referee. Hounds manager Rob Vincent voiced his objections, but his protest was met with a straight red card and dismissal. The decision further fueled the physicality, with both sides losing composure in the closing stages. Neither team managed to generate a meaningful opportunity before the final whistle, and the match concluded in a scoreless 0–0 draw. The Hounds now turn their attention to a road trip to Miami FC.
