Six Nations Takes Two-Game Lead Over Adanacs at Mann Cup

The Six Nations Chiefs have taken a 2-0 series lead in the Mann Cup after a 10-6 win over the Coquitlam Adanacs on Saturday night.

After a big second period led Six Nations to an 8-2 win in Game 1, another strong second period helped them secure a Game 2 victory.

After Coquitlam took a 2-0 lead after the first period, the Chiefs stormed out in the second period with a four-goal run, as they outscored the Adanacs 8-3 in the period.

Warren Hill got the start in goal for Six Nations and stopped 34 of 40 shots in the win. On the other end of the floor, Christian Del Bianco faced 53 shots in the loss.

First Period

The Adanacs jumped out to a 2-0 lead as they looked to even up the series.

Sean Kriwokon opened the scoring 5:39 into the game off assists from Connor Robinson and Payton Cormier.

Both teams struggled to find the back of the net for the majority of the period. Kean Moon rounded out the scoring with 2:55 left on the clock to give Coquitlam a two-goal advantage at the first intermission.

Second Period

Momentum completely swung in favour of Six Nations in the second period, as they opened with a four-goal run.

Ryan Smith opened the scoring 1:25 into the period, followed by Josh Byrne shorthanded at 2:30 to tie the game.

Dhane Smith then made it 3-2 for the Chiefs at the 4:12 mark, and Ryan Smith rounded out the four-goal run at 7:37.

Coquitlam got back on the board to get within one as Cormier converted off an assist from James Rahe at 8:46.

Shayne Jackson made it 5-3 for the Chiefs off a feed from Chris Cloutier 30 seconds later.

Moon again made it a one-goal game on the power play with 5:20 left on the clock, and Remo Schenato scored seven seconds later, unassisted, to tie the game 5-5.

However, Six Nations scored three quick goals at the end of the period to take control of the game.

Dhane Smith scored with 3:53 left, followed by Shayne Jackson with 1:38 on the clock to make it 7-5.

Tyson Bell scored off a feed from Brad Kri 59 seconds later, as Six Nations held a three-goal lead heading into the third period.

Third Period

It wasn’t until there were 6:21 left in the game that anyone was able to get on the board in the third period.

Schenato scored for the Adanacs to get them within two, but that’s as close as they would get.

Dawson Theede scored on the power play with 4:40 left, and Dhane Smith rounded out the scoring to give Six Nations the 10-6 win and a 2-0 series lead in the Mann Cup.
