The Brampton Excelsiors (1-13) visited the Owen Sound North Stars (6-9) in Major Series Lacrosse action at the Meaford-St. Vincent Community Centre in Meaford, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Riley Hutchcraft in net for Brampton facing Andrew Kidd in net for the North Stars.
A tight defensive struggle as expected had this game come down to the wire. Alex May tied the game in the third for the Excelsiors converting an Andrew Borgatti feed at 11:12 setting the stage for a nail-biting finish.
Braydon Mayea took a Jackson Webster pass, making no mistake, beat Riley Hutchcraft low to the stickside with just 1:59 remaining in the game. Brampton tried for the late comeback, but was not to be. Owen Sound wins a close one, 7-6.
To The Game:
The North Stars started off well jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Tanner Buck converted a Jake McNabb pass at 3:17, followed by Xander Derkatz blasting a Josh Rosa feed at 7:01.
Bowie Horsman got Brampton back in the game converting a Jacob Janke pass from in close at 7:29, followed by Carson Robins finishing a long lead pass from Callum Witter in transition at 15:34.
After one period, Brampton 2 Owen Sound 2.
Second Period:
Again the North Stars got off to a good start with a pair of goals. Isiah Moran-Weekes quick sticked a Josh Rosa pass at 6:18, followed by Jake McNabb with a blast off a Braydon Mayea feed at 7:32.
The Excelsiors stormed back again when Nate Ruff finished a Zach Sunderland pass at 11:40, followed by Jacob Janke converting a Ben Baker pass in transition at 14:08 to tie the game once again.
Liam McGrath gave the North Stars the lead heading to the intermission off a Noah Millsap pass at 19:22.
After two periods, Owen Sound 5 Brampton 4.

Third Period:
Jacob Janke evened the game for Brampton with a low to low shot that beat Andrew Kidd at 3:27, but Braydon Mayea answered on the power-play for the North Stars at 9:38.
Alex May again tied the game for the Excelsiors with a transition goal off a long lead pass from Andrew Borgatti at 11:12, but again Braydon Mayea was able to convert a Jackson Webster feed from in close with just 1:59 remaining to give Owen Sound the lead.
Brampton put plenty of pressure on the North Stars to try and tie the game, but Andrew Kidd was sensational in net to preserve the one goal victory.
Final score, Owen Sound 7 Brampton 6.
