A Stingy Brooklin Defense Holds Off A Feisty Excelsiors Offense

The Brampton Excelsiors (0-4) traveled east to ght at the Iroquois Park Sports Complex in face the Brooklin Lacrosse Club (4-2) in Major Series Lacrosse action Wednesday niWhitby, Ontario.

The goaltending match-up had Riley Hutchcraft in net for the Excelsiors facing Steven Orleman in net for Brooklin.

Once again a game in which Brooklin put a lot of shots on the net.  Riley Hutchcraft had a good night making 49 saves, but the Brampton offense couldn’t solve a very tough Brooklin defense. 

Brooklin was led by Tanner Cook (3g,0a), Will MacLeod (2g,0a), Chris Boushy (1g,4a), and Connor Kearnan (1g,4a).  Steven Orleman was also strong in net making 36 saves behind a stingy Brooklin defense.  Brooklin wins  7-4.

To The Game:

Brooklin got a quick jump in this game with Chris Boushy scoring off a Luke Keenan pass at 4:49, followed by Connor Kearnan with a laser from the side of the net off a Boushy feed at 8:46.  Tanner Cook then extended the lead just 0:11 seconds later finishing a Boushy pass himself for a 3-0 Brooklin lead.

The Excelsiors fought back with Briley Maxwell converting a James Whiteford pass from in front at 13:14, followed by Eric Ward with a bounced shot off a Maxwell feed 0:34 seconds later.

After one period, Brooklin 3 Brampton 2.

Second Period:

The Excelsiors tied the game with a blast from Nolan Marshall off an Amos Whitcomb pass at 9:58, but Tanner Cook regained the lead with a nice move from the top of the crease off a Luke Keenan pass at 11:09. 

Will MacLeod increased the Brooklin lead shorthanded just beating the buzzer at 19:59.

After two periods, Brooklin 5 Brampton 3.

Third Period:

Tanner Cook opened the third period scoring with a sidearm snipe off a Connor Kearnan pass at 3:02, followed by Will MacLeod with his second of the game off a Chris Boushy pass at 3:41.

Bowie Horseman got Brampton back in the game with a low to low laser from the outside off an Eric Ward pass at 4:44, but Steven Orleman shut the door from there.

Final score, Brooklin 7 Brampton 4.

Shots on goal favored Brooklin 56-40.
