
The Coquitlam Adanacs took a 2-1 series lead with a 9-6 win over the Maple Ridge Burrards in Game 3 of their WLA semifinal matchup.
In Game 3, the Adanacs were once again led by Robert Church, who finished with two goals and two assists. Jalen Chaster had a goal and two assists, while Adam Noakes recorded three assists.
Christian Del Bianco was once again outstanding, stopping 41 of 47 shots in the win.
For Maple Ridge, Payton Cormier led the way with two goals and two assists, while Tyler Pace had a goal and three assists.
In goal, Jack Kask stopped 37 of 45 shots in the loss.
First Period
The Burrards came out quickly, scoring twice early in the first period.
Cormier opened the scoring 37 seconds into the game and added his second of the night on the power play at 8:45, putting Maple Ridge ahead 2-0.
The Adanacs responded late in the period. Kean Moon scored shorthanded at 15:23 to cut the deficit in half before Laszlo Henning tied the game with 1:36 left, knotting the game at 2-2 after 20 minutes.
Second Period
The Adanacs took control early in the second, scoring three goals in the opening four minutes.
David Charney put Coquitlam ahead on the power play at 1:29 before Chaster made it 4-2 at 3:20. Parker Kennedy added another just 27 seconds later to give the Adanacs a three-goal cushion.
The Burrards responded when Pace scored at 6:43, but Church restored Coquitlam’s three-goal lead at 11:29.
Maple Ridge made things interesting late in the period. Kaden Doughty scored on the power play at 15:25, followed by Dagan Carlson’s goal with 2:51 left on the clock to bring the Burrards within one.
The Adanacs held a 6-5 lead heading into the third period.
Third Period
Church provided some breathing room for Coquitlam early in the third, scoring at 2:19 to make it 7-5.
The Adanacs then added a shorthanded goal from Ty Banks at 5:05 before Ethan Ticehurst scored into an empty net with 3:33 remaining to make it 9-5.
Drew Andre answered for the Burrards with 2:58 left, but Maple Ridge couldn’t find a comeback.
The victory gives the Adanacs a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-five WLA semifinal. Coquitlam will now have a chance to wrap up the series on Tuesday night in Coquitlam.
