Week 13 picks:

“Muffler” Mike:

HFX @ OTT

Ottawa. This game will absolutely come down to Higgins vs. Hill in the nets. Going with the home team by the slimmest of margins.

LV @ COL

Colorado. The Mammoth are rested and at home, while the Desert Dogs lost twice last weekend to see their playoff chances greatly diminish.

SASK @ VAN

Saskatchewan. Last I checked, it’s not the Rush’s fault if the teams in front of them on their schedule happen to be below the .500 mark. Why folks elsewhere keep moving the goalposts on the Rush each week to justify their flawed logic is beyond me.

GA @ TOR

Toronto. Taking the Rock in a revenge game against a Swarm team that has seemingly lost all its early season mojo.

PHI @ ALB

Philadelphia. Two teams who are struggling to finish games. The Wings desperately need to shake off the memory of back-to-back losses against Halifax.

ROC @ CGY

Calgary. Between Sunday’s 21-goal Roughnecks performance and Rochester’s late-game power outage against the Rush, I think it may be too little, too late for the Knighthawks this season.

BUF @ SD

Buffalo. I was tempted to pick the Seals. But the fact of the matter is they needed overtime to beat a Bandits squad gassed from a doubleheader weekend, and the offensive consistency just isn’t there right now.

Shawn:

Halifax vs Ottawa

Pick – Halifax

Inconsistency plagues both of these teams. While Ottawa does sport the best player in the world right now, I just like how Halifax has been playing lately. They’ve struggled early in the year, but they are starting to put it all together.

Las Vegas vs Colorado

Pick – Colorado

Not much to say here. Las Vegas is struggling, and I don’t see them competing with Colorado. Is Shawn Williams’ job on the line?

Saskatchewan vs Vancouver

Pick – Saskatchewan

The Rush are playing with nothing but confidence right now. They are all alone in second place for a reason. The Warriors will give them a game, but Saskatchewan will come away with a close victory.

Georgia vs Toronto

Pick – Toronto

I had a hard time picking this game. Georgia has really struggled as of late and has really relied on young guns like Toron Eccleston. This Rock team is resilient and will pick up the win.

Albany vs Philadelphia

Pick – Philadelphia

Both teams need to turn their season around, and both teams have the talent to do it. I have to give a slight nod to the Wings.

Rochester vs Calgary

Pick – Calgary

The Roughnecks have shown they are a lot better than any of us expected. Rochester has the firepower but seems to be missing a piece or two.

Buffalo vs San Diego

Pick – Buffalo

San Diego poked the bear (or Bandit in this case). Buffalo is rested and will get their revenge and show the Seals took advantage of a tired Bandits team the week previous.

Gary:

Halifax vs. Ottawa

Ottawa wins.

With Reilly O’Connor back in the lineup, Larson Sundown and Connor Kearnan contributing, Jeff Teat has a lot more room to operate.  Look for the stingy Black Bears defense to bottle up the Thunderbirds.

Las Vegas vs. Colorado

Colorado wins.

These teams have been heading in different directions all season.  If Colorado is able to shut down Jack Hannah, this could get ugly early.

Saskatchewan vs. Vancouver

Saskatchewan wins.

The Rush keep rolling no matter who is the team across from them.  This is going to be another one of those must see games.  Both teams are young and high octane, with great leadership! I give a slight edge to the transition and faceoff game of the Rush.

Georgia vs. Toronto

Toronto wins.

Most have written off the Rock.  I haven’t!   This team has lost four one goal games this season to formidable opponents.  An explosion is due to happen and this is a prime opportunity.  Nathan Grenon makes a memorable debut for the Rock.

Albany vs. Philadelphia

Philadelphia wins.

Both teams have been struggling of late.  I give the edge to the Philadelphia offense with Cattoni, Jones, Resetarits, Riorden, O’Neil, and Sowers.  Though Joe Nardella will have a great day on faceoffs for the FireWolves, the Wings will make the most of their opportunities.   Don’t be surprised if Andrew Kidd gets some minutes for Albany.

Rochester vs. Calgary

Calgary wins.

This is a tough one!  I really like both teams.   The edge goes to the Roughnecks defense and transition game.

Buffalo vs. San Diego

Buffalo wins.

A rested, pissed off Bandits squad head into San Diego.  Look for the Bandits to go off early and often.  Smith and Byrne have a memorable night!

Pat:

Halifax vs. Ottawa

Halifax

Las Vegas vs. Colorado

Colorado

Saskatchewan vs. Vancouver

Saskatchewan

Georgia vs. Toronto

Georgia

Albany vs. Philadelphia

Albany

Rochester vs. Calgary

Calgary

Buffalo vs. San Diego

Buffalo

Caden:

Halifax vs Ottawa

Pick – Ottawa

The Black Bears are riding high after blowing out the FireWolves on the road, and traveling home might be what they need to shift their momentum towards the playoffs. I’ll take Ottawa.

Las Vegas vs Colorado

Pick – Colorado

Las Vegas came away with no wins last week in 2 games; and I think they will continue their losing streak. We had mentioned on the show, could this loss be the end of the Shawn Williams era?

Saskatchewan vs Vancouver

Pick – Saskatchewan

The first team to 8 wins will be the first to 9. The Rush really seem like they have figured it all out, the perfect offensive production, lockdown defense and stellar goaltending could spell disaster for the Warriors.

Georgia vs Toronto

Pick – Toronto

A tough loss for the Rock last week against the Bandits, but I think they bounce right back. I’ll take the Rock here.

Philadelphia vs Albany

Pick – Philadelphia

Albany just seems completely deflated, and a huge loss to Ottawa only makes it worse. Until they can prove they can put together a full 60 I can’t choose the FireWolves.

Rochester vs Calgary

Pick – Calgary

A week removed from a 20+ goal game for the Roughnecks just seems like they are in their own momentum shift. I’ll take the Roughnecks over a struggling Rochester club.

Buffalo vs San Diego

Pick – Buffalo

The Seals came away with a huge shock win over Buffalo, and I don’t mean to diminish their victory over the best team in the league. However, a win over a team that already had a taxing game a day? If the Seals can take out a team that is fully rested, it’s a different story, but I just don’t think they will. I have the Bandits getting revenge.
