Week 14 picks:
“Muffler” Mike:
GA @ OTT
Georgia. I’ll say it again: the Black Bears cannot continue to rely solely on Jeff Teat and Zach Higgins to steal games for them.
ALB @ ROC
Albany. The Knighthawks have had the FireWolves’ number for most of the past few seasons. But Albany is almost fully healthy now, and it’s time for a reversal of fortune.
BUF @ SASK
Saskatchewan. A wise man named Richard Fliehr once said “To be the man, you gotta beat the man…WOOOOO!”
CGY @ COL
Calgary. Both teams lost last week, but the body language displayed by each team has me thinking the Roughnecks believe in themselves significantly more at present. The boost in net with the acquisition of Nick Rose doesn’t hurt either.
HFX @ LV
Halifax. The Thunderbirds are probably the hottest team in the league right now looking for their fifth straight win. If Vegas can have the same kind of offensive output they’ve had in their last two wins, they can at least keep the game close.
Shawn:
Georgia vs. Ottawa
Pick – Ottawa
Both teams have been relatively inconsistent this season. However, I’m going with the Black Bears as Georgia hadn’t played up to their potential as of late. Although it will be fun watching Lyle Thompson and Jeff Teat go head-to-head.
Albany vs. Rochester
Pick – Rochester
Rochester is another team I just can’t figure out. One night they look great, the next they look like a last-place team. I’m going with Rochester, though, because Albany hasn’t looked good all season.
Buffalo vs. Saskatchewan
Pick – Saskatchewan
This is the heavyweight bout and I’m going out on a limb. I think Saskatchewan’s youth and athleticism will shine through and wear down an older Bandits squad. In reality, this game could go either way.
Calgary vs. Colorado
Pick – Calgary
With all the trade activity this week, Calgary is poised to go on a run. Really, their one glaring weakness was goaltending, and they shored that up by getting Nick Rose.
Halifax vs. Las Vegas
Pick – Halifax
Two teams going in opposite directions. Halifax has finally hit their stride and has looked good as of late. Vegas looked good last week, but I don’t think it’s sustainable.
Gary:
Georgia vs. Ottawa
Georgia wins.
I give a slight edge to Georgia in transition, and in goaltending. This will either be a defensive struggle or a shootout, but either way it will be a close game.
Albany vs. Rochester
Rochester wins.
I truly believe the Knighthawks have figured it out this time. The offense when firing on all cylinders can compete with anyone in the league.
Buffalo vs. Saskatchewan
Buffalo wins.
I may be in the minority with this pick surprisingly enough, but this team knows how to win the big game! While Saskatchewan has been great, this is the first totally complete team they’ve faced this year.
Calgary vs. Colorado
Colorado wins.
The Loud House will come alive in this game. While Nick Rose will be good, I feel Dillon Ward will rise to the occasion. The Mammoth were embarrassed last week, and will be out to prove that was just a fluke.
Halifax vs. Las Vegas
Halifax wins.
Halifax has found their mojo! Lots of scoring, strong defense, and Warren Hill looking like the old Warren Hill!

Pat:
Georgia vs. Ottawa
Georgia
Albany vs. Rochester
Rochester
Buffalo vs. Saskatchewan
Buffalo
Calgary vs. Colorado
Calgary
Halifax vs. Las Vegas
Halifax
Caden:
Georgia vs. Ottawa
Pick – Georgia
Until Ottawa can find their depth scoring, I will not be picking them, I’ll take Georgia this week.
Albany vs. Rochester
Pick – Albany
I’m gonna take the FireWolves. Mike had mentioned how the Knighthawks have their number, but I think with a “newer” defensive scheme thanks to Darryl Gibson-along with more returning players, I’ll take Albany here.
Buffalo vs. Saskatchewan
Pick – Saskatchewan
A battle of the two heavyweights of the league, and I think the youth of the Rush will be the key factor for Saskatchewan to take the win.
Calgary vs. Colorado
Pick – Calgary
The Roughnecks are gearing up for a big playoff run, and a loss here after the big Nick Rose trade would not be good whatsoever, I’ll take Calgary.
Halifax vs. Las Vegas
Pick – Halifax
The Thunderbirds have been really hot since letting Warren Hill rest a week, and I think they will continue their winning ways. Piled on top of the fact that Vegas has really been struggling this season; I expect an easy win for Halifax.
