Week 16 Picks:
“Muffler” Mike:
SASK @ HFX
Saskatchewan. Memo to certain lacrosse experts elsewhere: you should probably shut up with your “tHeY HaVeNt pLaYeD aNyBoDy” opinion and have a seat.
TOR @ VAN
Vancouver. CDB…that is all.
COL @ PHI
Philadelphia. The Wings’ season is on the line here, plain and simple. If they can’t take advantage of a Mammoth team without Zed Williams and now Eli McLaughlin, they deserve to be watching the playoffs from home.
ROC @ OTT
Ottawa. Memo to any Black Bear not named Teat or Higgins: show up and do your job – amazing things happen as a result!
GA @ ALB
Albany. Playoffs might be too late for the FireWolves, but an opportunity to play spoiler never adheres to punctuality.
BUF @ CGY
Calgary. Dobbie or no Dobbie, the Roughnecks get a crucial sweep of a home-and-home. Anyone still think Nick Rose is the problem?
LV @ SD
San Diego. Two teams trending nowhere despite getting healthier and being active at the trade deadline. Congrats, Seals – you get revenge for a pathetic showing in Vegas in Week 8…do you want a medal or a monument?
Shawn:
Saskatchewan vs Halifax
Pick – Saskatchewan
It’s no fluke that Saskatchewan is right up near the top of the standings. This team is deep and has a number of different weapons to score. Halifax has been playing well as of late, but the Rush have the momentum.
Toronto vs Vancouver
Pick – Vancouver
Before the trade deadline, I would have seriously considered Toronto. However, Christian Del Bianco is a game changer for Vancouver (assuming he will be ready to go). The Rock might get an early start, but once CDB gets his feet under him, it’ll be game over.
Colorado vs Philadelphia
Pick – Colorado
Even without Zed Williams, it’s always been a next-man-up mentality for the Mammoth. Meanwhile, things just aren’t clicking in Philly, and the same old problems are rearing their ugly heads.
Rochester vs Ottawa
Pick – Rochester
Rochester is finally finding its groove, and they are a very dangerous team with a lot of talent. Ottawa is starting to look like the New York Riptide that we remember. They have Jeff Teat and not much help after that.
Georgia vs Albany
Pick – Georgia
The only team that Albany can seem to beat is Philly. Otherwise, this team seems out of sync and going against a Georgia team that can’t be feeling good about losing last week.
Buffalo vs Calgary
Pick – Buffalo
Curtis Dickson and Jesse King had the game of games last week. Can they do it again? I have a hard time seeing Buffalo losing two straight to the exact same team.
Las Vegas vs San Diego
Pick – San Diego
I don’t think there’s much to break down here. Las Vegas is in bad shape, and there is no way they’ll be able to turn it around. San Diego has been playing “okay” throughout the season, and they’ll do enough to take the win.
Gary:
Saskatchewan vs. Halifax
Saskatchewan wins.
The Rush have shown they are for real for weeks. I’m not sure the Thunderbirds can handle the size and speed of the Rush in this game.
Toronto vs. Vancouver
Toronto wins.
Somebody has to take Toronto! I’m hoping Christian Del Bianco is a bit rusty in his debut with Vancouver. The Rock offense is in full swing, and the defense still has Harris, Hudson, Jubinville, Darlison, Mazzuca, Rogers, and Kri!
Colorado vs. Philadelphia
Colorado wins.
Williams and McLaughlin are out, but I still think there is enough fire power to get the job done for the Mammoth. Look for Deacan Knott getting some playing time in the Wings net.
Rochester vs. Ottawa
Rochester wins.
Now that the Knighthawks have their confidence, the sky is the limit. Ottawa has been inconsistent of late, and that could be their downfall in this game.
Georgia vs. Albany
Georgia wins.
The Swarm are so much more dangerous with a healthy Miles Thompson in the lineup. Shayne Jackson has come to life recently as well. Look for the Swarm defense to bottle up the FireWolves.
Buffalo vs. Calgary
Buffalo wins.
I like the pieces Buffalo picked up at the trade deadline! A really good team just became a really great team. Could be a long night for Roughnecks fans at the game.
Las Vegas vs. San Diego
San Diego wins
A much healthier team, with some new speed has me believing the Seals are primed and ready to make a big playoff run.

Buffalo vs. Calgary
Buffalo
Las Vegas vs. San Diego

Caden:
Saskatchewan vs Halifax
Pick – Saskatchewan
A battle of solid play from both teams as of late, but with the Rush being the first team to 10 wins, I would be very surprised if the Thunderbirds came away with the upset.
Toronto vs Vancouver
Pick – Vancouver
Who just got CDB? I’ll go with those guys. Warriors by a million.
Colorado vs Philadelphia
Pick – Philadelphia
This feels like its win or no playoffs for the Wings, and with Colorado loosing both Zed Williams (injury) and Eli McLaughlin (being a bada*s), this just feels like the Wings NEED to come out with force and take this game or else it could be bye bye.
Rochester vs Ottawa
Pick – Rochester
Ottawa did just trade away Ron John and Kiel Matisz, but also brought in Travis Longboat and Sam La Roue. However, I just don’t know if these trades are enough to make Ottawa feel better with not relying on Jeff Teat. On top of that, the Knighthawks have been playing very good as of late, i’ll take Rochester here.
Georgia vs Albany
Pick – Albany
Albany is going right back into the win column after taking on the Wings, and I feel like going back home, they will do it again. Keep an eye out for Peshko and Jackson making their home debuts.
Buffalo vs Calgary
Pick – Buffalo
Buffalo looses a heartbreaker last week, but they will come back with only one thing on their mind….Revenge
Las Vegas vs San Diego
Pick – San Diego
The Seals are finally starting to find their groove while Vegas isn’t finding much of anything at this moment, I’ll take San Diego here.
