Week 10 picks:
“Muffler” Mike:
VAN @ HFX
Vancouver. Aden Walsh and the Warriors’ defense held Ottawa to just four goals last week, while the offense has shown it can click even when one or more cogs has an off-night.
CGY @ OTT
Calgary. Both teams are in need of a rebound, but I have serious concerns about the Black Bears’ constant reliance on Jeff Teat and Zach Higgins to save the day.
ALB @ BUF
Buffalo. The Bandits are rested and at home – bad timing for a FireWolves team that has continuously struggled late in close games.
ROC @ PHI
Philadelphia. The Wings stay undefeated at home, while the Knighthawks head into their first bye week in desperate need of a turnaround.
TOR @ COL
Colorado. Yes the Rock are inching closer to full strength and playing better as of late. However, the Mammoth offense has been consistently potent game in and game out. I think they take control late for the win.
GA @ LV
Las Vegas. The Desert Dogs are showing that they are no pushover. I think they feed off the momentum of winning in front of their first sellout crowd to steal a win and keep the Swarm reeling.
SASK @ SD
Saskatchewan. Other folks seem to think the Rush have a good record only because they’ve played sub-.500 teams. I’ll use that logic (despite its terrible flaws) to make a successful pick here.
Shawn:
Vancouver vs Halifax
Pick – Vancouver
The Warriors are showing that they are the real deal. Meanwhile, Halifax has been wildly inconsistent and Warren Hill has not played his best lacrosse yet this season.
Calgary vs Ottawa
Pick – Ottawa
I have a hard time seeing this Black Bears team lose two in a row. For Calgary, Cam MacLeod has been good but not great. I’m thinking Zach Higgins will win this goaltending battle.
Albany vs Buffalo
Pick – Buffalo
The Bandits are a juggernaut and I don’t know who will beat them. Albany is struggling and looking for answers. That’s not a good sign going against the best team in the league.
Rochester vs Philadelphia
Pick – Philadelphia
I still can’t get a beat on this Rochester team. They are slowly improving although the talent is there. Philadelphia is going that there record is no fluke.
Toronto vs Colorado
Pick – Toronto
As I said last week, getting Schreiber and Ierlan back have been game changers for the Rock. They are going to come out firing again Colorado knowing they have an uphill climb.
Georgia vs Las Vegas
Pick – Georgia
Yes, the Swarm has lost three in a row but they’re coming off a bye week. It’s a chance for them to regroup and come up with a win.
Saskatchewan vs San Diego
Pick – Saskatchewan
I have a hard time seeing San Diego winning this one. When Sask’s offence is clicking they put up a lot of points. While the Seals have struggled to find the back of the net.
Gary:
Vancouver vs Halifax
Vancouver wins.
Vancouver is a well rounded team that seems to have found their groove. Aden Walsh is looking more comfortable every week in net. The Thunderbirds are just too inconsistent for me to take in this game.
Calgary vs Ottawa
Ottawa wins.
I have said this many times this year, I really like this Ottawa team! With Kearnan, Teat, as well as Dunbar etc. this is a high power team. Zach Higgins is making a real push towards goaltender of the year as well.
Albany vs Buffalo
Buffalo wins.
Who is going to blemish the perfect record of the Bandits? I don’t think this incarnation of the FireWolves will be the ones to do it. A strong defense, great goaltending, and wave after wave of offense make this a team that could go undefeated.
Rochester vs Philadelphia
Rochester wins.
Rochester has lost two consecutive games against really good teams in the final seconds. This team is too good to be sitting where they are. Although Philadelphia is much stronger than last year, I think the Knighthawks will exploit flaws in the Philly defense and in Nick Damude’s goaltending.
Toronto vs Colorado
Toronto wins.
The Rock when they are healthy can beat anyone in the league. While Colorado has had a good start, I feel this game could expose them to new pressures. Look for the Rock’s transition game to take centre stage.
Georgia vs Las Vegas
Georgia wins.
Even though Las Vegas is starting to play to their potential, I think the bye week was a good time for the Swarm to reset. Look for Brett Dobson to steal the show in net. The offense of Jackson, Thompson, Thompson, Cole and Kew will use quick ball movement to keep the Desert Dogs off balance.
Saskatchewan vs San Diego
Saskatchewan wins.
The Rush are for real! San Diego has had all kinds of trouble scoring. Look for Church, Triolo, and Keenan to all have big games. Scigliano returns to San Diego with a vengeance!

Pat:
Vancouver vs Halifax
Vancouver
Calgary vs Ottawa
Calgary
Albany vs Buffalo
Buffalo
Rochester vs Philadelphia
Philadelphia
Toronto vs Colorado
Colorado
Georgia vs Las Vegas
Georgia
Saskatchewan vs San Diego
Saskatchewan
Caden:
Vancouver vs Halifax
Pick – Vancouver
The Warriors have really stepped it up this season, the talent is showing offensively and defensively and with the inconsistency shown by the Thunderbirds, I can’t go against the Warriors here.
Calgary vs Ottawa
Pick – Ottawa
Only 4 four goals last week for Ottawa does not bode well for them against Calgary, however, I do think that the Black Bears can right the ship and avoid their second straight loss.
Albany vs Buffalo
Pick – Buffalo
Right now Buffalo CAN NOT lose, and with the FireWolves struggling to put together a full 60 minutes I can’t see Albany taking this finals rematch.
Rochester vs Philadelphia
Pick – Philadelphia
The second late loss of the season for Rochester does not bode well for their upcoming matchup. The Wings are firing on all fronts and are looking to take advantage of a team down on their luck. I’ll be picking Philly.
Toronto vs Colorado
Pick – Toronto
Yes; Colorado did just get back into the win column in a late win against a struggling Knighthawks squad, but honestly I see the Mammoth struggling here. The Rock are about as close to healthy as they can be, and they are showing that when healthy, they are deadly. I’ll pick Toronto.
Georgia vs Las Vegas
Pick – Las Vegas
Georgia’s losing streak is something to think about in this situation, and going into a barn that is a game removed from their first sellout game just may prove to be too much for a struggling Swarm team. And it seems as if the Desert Dogs are finally showing off the talent they possess, which I think will propel Las Vegas to a win.
Saskatchewan vs San Diego
Pick – Saskatchewan
The Rush picked up a huge victory with a rookie goalie in net, I suspect that with either Kiazyk or Scigliano in net the Rush will surge to a victory as the the Seals have struggled mightily to score at all this season.
