Week 12 picks:

“Muffler” Mike:

BUF @ TOR

Toronto. It might sound cliche, but the Rock’s season really is on the line. They cannot afford a second loss to Buffalo, especially heading into a stretch of games against several other teams as desperate to right the ship as the Rock.

SASK @ CGY

Saskatchewan. Both teams have been mostly solid so far this season. I’m giving the edge to the Rush coming off a week of rest.

VAN @ LV

Vancouver. Thinking this will finally be the week that the Warriors get that decisive win everyone is looking for out of them.

PHI @ HFX

Halifax. Benching Warren Hill for a game seems to have awakened the Thunderbirds. That’s not only dangerous for the Wings, but for the entire league.

OTT @ ALB

Albany. The Black Bears have scoring issues, failing to reach double digit goal totals in 5 of their 8 games this season. Zach Higgins can’t steal every game for Ottawa.

SD @ BUF

Buffalo. The Bandits will be livid returning home after their first loss. They will take out that frustration on a San Diego team that needs to get it together quickly or risk missing the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

ROC @ SASK

Saskatchewan. While Rochester looks better with Hartley back in net, this Rush team will be pumped from a win the previous night against their fiercest rival.

LV @ CGY

Calgary. The Roughnecks will have their own frustration to take out, using the Desert Dogs as a punching bag. Unfortunately, this weekend probably sees Vegas head coach Shawn Williams put on the hot seat.

Shawn:

Buffalo vs Toronto

Pick – Buffalo

I hate to say it but this could be the end of the line for the Rock. By all means, this will be a close game and they’ll go down swinging but the Bandits are too much of a juggernaut.

Saskatchewan vs Calgary

Pick – Saskatchewan

I’ve gone back and forth on this game a number of times. I feel like the Rush just have a bit more depth than the Roughnecks to pull out the victory.

Vancouver vs Las Vegas

Pick – Vancouver

The Warriors have lacked consistency this year but they are light years ahead of past Vancouver squads. Las Vegas is rested but they aren’t necessarily scaring anyone right now.

Philadelphia vs Halifax

Pick – Philadelphia

There is too much talent on this Wings team to lose back-to-back games against Halifax. Look for a highly-motivated Philly team.

Ottawa vs Albany

Pick – Ottawa

I can’t get a handle on either one of these teams. I feel like Jeff Teat will get out of his funk sooner rather than later and it’ll be at Albany’s expense.

San Diego vs Buffalo

Pick – Buffalo

I honestly can’t see this game being close. Buffalo can score in bunches. San Diego has struggled to find the back of the net. This will be another nail in the coffin for the Seals’ season.

Rochester vs Saskatchewan

Pick – Rochester

The way I see it is the Rush will dominate two and a half to three quarters before running out of gas and let a lead slip away to Rochester. Saskatchewan is a high flying team and after a hard fought battle against Calgary they’ll be working on fumes.

Las Vegas vs Calgary

Pick – Calgary

Watch for a pissed off Calgary club against Vegas. I also think the Roughnecks are the more well rounded team.

Gary:

Buffalo vs Toronto

Toronto Wins.

I am going out on a long limb here!  These teams absolutely hate each other, and play as though it was for the cup even in pre-season.  This is Toronto’s season right here.  If they can’t solve the Bandits now, there’s is no way they solve them in May (if they even make the playoffs).

Saskatchewan vs Calgary

Saskatchewan wins.

This is another tough call!  I really like the Rush team, and think they just edge out the upstart Roughnecks team.  Transition will play a big part in this game.

Vancouver vs Las Vegas

Vancouver wins.

Both teams are underperforming.   Look for the Warriors offense to come to life in this game.

Philadelphia vs Halifax

Halifax wins.

The strategy will change for the Wings.  Holden Cattoni and Phil Caputo will have more of a say in this game.  The Thunderbirds have been disciplined lately, but is think special teams will play a role in this result.  Look for Warren Hill to have a monster game in the Thunderbirds net.

Ottawa vs Albany

Ottawa wins.

The Black Bears have had a couple of tough offensive weeks.  Look for Jeff Teat to have a monster night on a young FireWolves defense.

San Diego vs Buffalo

Buffalo wins.

San Diego takes a lot of penalties!  If they aren’t completely disciplined, Buffalo will make them pay again and again.  San Diego can’t match the Bamdits transition speed as well.

Rochester vs Saskatchewan

Rochester wins.

Rochester is such a different team with Rylan Hartley in net.  Look for this to be a track meet between two quick offensive teams.

Las Vegas vs Calgary

Calgary wins.

The Roughnecks will be chomping at the bit after a Friday loss to Saskatchewan.  Jesse King breaks out and has a massive game against the Desert Dogs.

Pat:

Buffalo vs Toronto

Buffalo

Saskatchewan vs Calgary

Saskatchewan

Vancouver vs Las Vegas

Vancouver

Philadelphia vs Halifax

Halifax

Ottawa vs Albany

Ottawa

San Diego vs Buffalo

Buffalo

Rochester vs Saskatchewan

Rochester

Las Vegas vs Calgary

Calgary

Caden:

Buffalo vs Toronto

Pick – Buffalo

Buffalo is playing like a team possessed right now, and they are possessed by winning. While Toronto will give a fight, the Bandits will come out on top.

Saskatchewan vs Calgary

Pick – Saskatchewan

The game will be very close, both teams showing off some great depth, but with the week off I’ll give this to the Rush.

Vancouver vs Las Vegas

Pick – Vancouver

We’ve talked in the past how the Warriors are looking for that breakout victory, and I’m gonna agree with Mike above, I think the Warriors dominate this game against Vegas.

Philadelphia vs Halifax

Pick – Halifax

Halifax has seemed unbeatable as of late, a far cry from their season start. Yes, they will be taking on a desperate Philadelphia squad, but backed by stellar play by Warren Hill, I think the Thunderbirds take this.

Ottawa vs Albany

Pick – Albany

I talked about it on the show how while Albany is being outscored by their opponents, they are averaging more goals for than Ottawa is, and that doesn’t bode well for the Black Bears. Albany coming back home after a week of rests just seems to me like a big victory is coming.

San Diego vs Buffalo

Pick – Buffalo

Oh San Diego. A shock win over Toronto last week and you head right into the lions den. Buffalo will keep the momentum going and look to add yet another win to their outstanding season, while also putting what could be the final nail in the coffin for the Seals.

Rochester vs Saskatchewan

Pick – Saskatchewan

Coming off a (potential) win the night prior; the wave of playing momentum and the high of the win will push the Rush past the Knighthawks.

Las Vegas vs Calgary

Pick – Calgary

Both teams coming off games on Friday, and both teams coming off possible losses making this Sunday matchup a revenge battle for both sides. With both teams struggling for a victory I think it will be the veteran leaders of the Roughnecks that will take over for Calgary and push them past the Desert Dogs.
