The Peterborough Lakers (9-4) visited the Brooklin Lacrosse Club (7-6) in Major Series Lacrosse action Wednesday night at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby, Ontario.

The goaltending match-up had Nick Rose in net for the Lakers facing Zach Higgins in net for Brooklin.

After a defensive first period which only yielded a goal each, the game broke open in the second.  The Lakers got on a five goal run, including two power-play markers to get up 6-1.  Chris Boushy and Jacob Hickey scored late for Brooklin to bring them closer, but Saeris and Hoggarth answered back.  Hickey got one more, but Peterborough took a four goal lead into the third period.

After a sluggish start to the third period, Brooklin caught fire in the second half.  BLC scored four unanswered goals, including back to back tallies from Taggert Clark, to tie the game.  However, the Lakers stormed back with Mitch Ogilvie scoring just 0:15 seconds later, turning out to be the game winner.  Peterborough wins a close one 9-8.

To The Game:

Brooklin opened the scoring in transition with Ryan Barnable going in off a long lead pass from Zach Higgins at 4:14, but Justin Sykes evened the game with a blast off a Brad McCulley pass at 5:48.

After one period, Peterborough 1 Brooklin 1.

Second Period:

The Lakers got rolling in the second with Thomas Hoggarth converting a Mike Robinson pass from in close at 5:33.  Johnny Pearson then added to the lead with a transition tally off a Dylan Hutchison feed at 6:33, followed by a low to low blast from Taite Cattoni off a Mike Robinson pass 0:22 seconds later.

Brad McCulley continued the Lakers barrage with a power-play marker from the side of the net off a Matt Gilray pass at 8:42, followed by another power-play goal in transition from Gilray himself converting a lead pass from Nick Rose at 13:58.

Brooklin finally got back on the board with Chris Boushy wiring a Connor Kearnan feed from the top of the crease at 15:13, followed by Jacob Hickey with a bounced shot from a Connor Kearnan pass at 16:08.

The Lakers stormed back with goals from Braedon Saris low to the stickside of Higgins at 16:50, followed by Thomas Hoggarth with his second of the evening off a Robert Hope pass in transition at 17:22.

Jacob Hickey added his second of the period in transition off a long lead pass from Zach Higgins at 18:25.

After two periods, Peterborough 8 Brooklin 4.

Lakers

Third Period:

Tanner Cook opened the third period scoring bringing Brooklin a little closer with a laser to the far corner off a Ryan Barnable pass at 11:27, followed by Taggert Clark with a sidearm snipe off a Brady Kearnan feed at 14:55.

Clark brought Brooklin within one with an unassisted goal 0:41 seconds later, followed by Sean Westley with a blast off a Holden Garlent pass at 16:34 to tie the game.

Peterborough stormed back with Mitch Ogilvie finishing a Thomas Hoggarth pass from the top of the crease 0:15 seconds later to regain the lead.

Brooklin pulled their goalie and went on the attack.  Nick Rose and the Lakers defense were up to the challenge to preserve the slim victory.

Final score, Peterborough 9 Brooklin 8.
Shots on goal favored the Lakers 50-41.
