When we think about these two teams we always think offensive power. What was on display in this game was defense and goaltending. This was a track meet throughout the first period, but both teams were up for the challenge. A late goal from the Lakers had them up 3-2 after one period.
The second period gave us more of the defensive/goaltending clinic for a good portion of the period. Both Nick Rose and Doug Jamieson made sensational saves throughout the frame. The offensive standouts were Joe Resetarits for Peterborough, and Shayne Jackson Six Nations each scoring hat-tricks, as well as Ian MacKay with a pair. After two periods Six Nations had a 6-4 lead.
The third period had the Chiefs start to pull away using primarily their transition game to gain the advantage. Though the offense picked up a bit, this still was a defensive struggle, which got chippier as the game went along. Six Nations prevails 9-6.
