The Coquitlam Adanacs rallied from two one-goal deficits to defeat the Langley Thunder 5-4 on Wednesday night in WLA action.
With Coquitlam already having clinched a playoff spot, the Adanacs started Andrew Gallant in goal, and he stopped 24 of 27 shots in the victory.
The Adanacs were led by Thomas Semple and Riley Isaacs, who each recorded two assists. Coquitlam had five different goal scorers in the game.
For the Thunder, Connor Watson led the way with a goal and two assists, while five other players recorded one point each.
In goal, Caleb Khan got the start and stopped 42 of 47 shots in the loss.
First Period
Langley opened the scoring just 1:23 into the contest when Austin Vanichuk found the back of the net.
The Adanacs replied at 5:13 as Carter Cook beat Khan to tie the game at 1-1.
The Thunder regained the lead late in the frame when Watson scored with 1:46 remaining, sending Langley into the first intermission with a 2-1 advantage.
Second Period
Coquitlam battled back early in the second period.
Reid Hinds-MacDonald tied the game at 3:11 before Dante Kulas restored Langley’s lead with a power-play marker just over two minutes later.
The momentum shifted late in the period as the Adanacs scored twice in 44 seconds.
Kean Moon tied the game at 16:16 before Clark Walter buried the go-ahead goal at 17:00, giving Coquitlam its first lead of the night at 4-3 heading into the second intermission.
Third Period
The Adanacs added an important insurance marker early in the third when Laszlo Henning scored with the extra attacker on the floor at 4:43 to extend the lead to 5-3.
Langley continued to press, but Gallant turned aside several quality chances while Khan kept the Thunder within striking distance at the other end.
Jake Govett scored with the extra attacker on the floor with 1:57 remaining to pull the Thunder within one, but the Coquitlam Adanacs closed out the final two minutes to secure a 5-4 victory.
