Coquitlam Adanacs Win WLA Championship

The Coquitlam Adanacs defeated the Victoria Shamrocks 8-7 on Tuesday night to win the 2026 WLA championship.

Coquitlam won the best-of-seven series 4-2 and will head east to the Mann Cup to face the winner of the Peterborough Lakers and Six Nations Chiefs series.

Victoria outshot Coquitlam 47-43 in Game 6, but once again, Christian Del Bianco was solid in goal. Del Bianco stopped 40 shots for the win.

Credit also goes to Chris Origlieri at the other end of the floor, stopping 35 of 43 shots in the loss. Both goaltenders were sensational throughout the series, as no team scored more than eight goals in any game.

Kean Moon and Adam Noakes led the Adanacs with two goals and two assists each. Connor Robinson had a pair of goals, while Parker Kennedy had a goal and an assist, and Riley Isaacs had two assists.

For Victoria, Zach Manns and Mathieu Gautier led the way with a hat trick and two assists each, while Marshal King had five assists.

First Period

Victoria got off to a strong start early in Game 6.

Manns opened the scoring 1:15 into the game, but Noakes replied at 7:36 to tie it up.

Gautier regained the lead for the Shamrocks 30 seconds later, and Patrick Dodds scored on the power play at 9:54 to put Victoria ahead 3-1.

Robinson got the Adanacs back within one at 15:37, but Manns restored the two-goal lead for Victoria less than 30 seconds later.

Coquitlam ended the first period with three unanswered goals as part of a four-goal run to take control of the game.

Moon scored unassisted with 2:23 remaining, and Eli Salama struck 10 seconds later.

Noakes rounded out the first-period scoring with six seconds on the clock as the Adanacs took a 5-4 lead into the first intermission.

Second Period

Both goaltenders and defences held strong in the second period, with only one goal being scored. Del Bianco stopped all 11 shots he faced in the period.

The only goal of the second period came from Robinson on the power play with 8:18 on the clock to give the Adanacs a 6-4 lead heading into the third period.

Third Period

Victoria tried to rally late in the third period but could not find the equalizer to force a Game 7.

Gautier scored off an assist from King 4:36 into the third period to get the Shamrocks back within one.

However, Coquitlam went on a two-goal run, starting with Kennedy at 8:13. Moon then scored at 9:35 to give the Adanacs an 8-5 lead.

The Shamrocks rallied late in the period. Gautier scored with 8:57 remaining, and Manns scored 32 seconds later to get within one.

Victoria wasn’t able to find the equalizer as the Coquitlam Adanacs took an 8-7 win to capture the WLA championship.
