The Carolina Chaos jump all over the Denver Outlaws in the early going of this game, going up 5-2 after the first quarter. Owen Hiltz getting creative in the offensive zone. Hiltz and Chad Palumbo did a great job off of feeding off each other, and Palumbo put his big body to work drawing multiple defenders. Allowing teammates like Hiltz to create space on the field. However, after the first quarter, Carolina would go over 31 minutes without scoring, as Denver rallied in the middle quarters.
The Chaos would finally find cracks in Denver’s defense in the fourth quarter, scoring three straight goals to tie things up. But Denver would score twice in the final 90 seconds to win 10-8. Even though the Chaos came up on the short end of the stick, I love what I saw from this team. Blaze Riorden being a leader in net, communicating with his defense. I give the Chaos credit for battling and dealing with injuries to key players on their defense in Jack Rowlett and Christian Scarpello. Carolina will look to rebound against Boston next week.
Denver Making All The Right Adjustments
After falling behind on the score sheet being down 5-2, Denver made all the right adjustments on both sides of the ball. The Outlaws offense finding out how to score on Carolina defense, taking over the lead in the second quarter, while the third quarter became a defensive showdown. Just when it looked like Carolina was primed for the comeback after tying the game 8-8, the Outlaws get 2 clutch goals in the last 90 seconds to escape with a crucial win, moving to 4-3 on the season. Pat Kavanagh going behind Carolina’s net, battling through defenders and cutting in front of the Chaos crease for the icing on the cake. Great win for the Outlaws heading into their own Homecoming Weekend where they will face Utah and Philadelphia with a chance to take the lead in the Western Conference.
