Jackson And Thompson Hat-tricks Lead Chiefs To Another Dominant Victory

The Cobourg Kodiaks (3-6) traveled west to face the Six Nations Chiefs (7-1) in Major Series Lacrosse action Tuesday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Haggersville, Ontario.

The goaltending match-up had Laine Hruska in net for Cobourg facing Doug Jamieson in net for the Chiefs.

Another week, and another dominant performance from the Six Nations Chiefs.  Cobourg did show they are a feisty team battling hard through the first period.  Laine Hruska had a solid first, making 17 saves in the period.

By the end of the second period Brad Kri, Larson Sundown, Shayne Jackson, and Ryan Smith all had a pair of goals, as Six Nations took over the flow of the game.  For the Kodiaks, Alex Marinier continued his hot night scoring both Kodiaks goals in the period for a hat-trick in the game.  Doug Jamieson continued his consistent play making 28 of 33 shots on the evening to this point.

While the Kodiaks continued to play hard into the third period, the Six Nations Chiefs were just too powerful to contain.  Outscoring Cobourg 5-2 in the third period, Six Nations cruises to a 16-7 victory.

To The Game:

The Chiefs  got on the board first when Brad Kri converted a Latrell Harris pass in transition at 1:29, followed by Ryan Smith with a blast off a Lyle Thompson feed at 4:20.

Cobourg answered with Brock Haley beating Doug Jamieson to the glove side unassisted at 6:36, but Lyle Thompson replied with a laser to the corner off a Dhane Smith pass at 9:13.

Dhane Smith continued the barrage with a high to low blast off a Larson Sundown pass at 10:00, followed by Ryan Smith on the power-play with a high to high laser off a Cody Jamieson pass at 12:43.

Zach Thompson got the Kodiaks back on the board with a sidearm snipe off a Brock Haley pass at 13:11, but Larson Sundown converted a Randy Staats pass from in close at 16:37.

Alex Marinier wired a Holden Patterson feed at 19:34 to bring the Kidiaks within three goals.

After one period, Six Nations 6 Cobourg 3.

Second Period:

Brad Kri scored his second of the game from in front of the net converting a Latrell Harris pass in transition at 2:38, but Alex Marinier scored his second of the game on a great individual effort unassisted at 8:34 to keep the Kodiaks in the game.

Latrell Harris added a transition goal for the Chiefs diving across the crease unassisted at 9:59, followed by Larson Sundown’s second of the game off a Latrell Harris pass from in front at 12:58.

Alex Marinier answered back for the Kodiaks with his third of the night off a Brock Haley pass at 13:26, but a pair of late goals from Shayne Jackson had the Chiefs up by six at the break.

After two periods, Six Nations 11 Cobourg 5.

Third Period:

Shayne Jackson opened the third period scoring with his natural hat-trick goal off a Ryan Smith pass at 0:54 seconds, followed by Josh Byrne coming from behind the net, turning and firing to the shortside at 1:26.  Lyle Thompson then added his second of the game on the power-play with a quick stick off a Josh Byrne pass at 3:49. 

The Kodiaks kept fighting with Aaron Woods converting a Zach Thompson pass from in close at 5:17, followed by Brock Haley with his second of the night off a Woods feed 0:32 seconds later.

Lyle Thompson scored his third of the night with a finesse shot off a Josh Byrne pass at 9:35, followed by Ryan Smith with an outside shot off a Shayne Jackson pass at 12:48.

Final score, Six Nations 16 Cobourg 7.
Shots on goal favored the Chiefs 46-41.
