James Rahe Gives Adanacs OT Win Over Burrards

James Rahe scored 45 seconds into overtime to lift the Coquitlam Adanacs to a 10–9 victory over the Maple Ridge Burrards on Sunday night.

With the Adanacs ahead 9–7 in the third period, Maple Ridge got goals from Dagan Carlson and Marcus Klarich to force overtime.

Rahe led the Adanacs with two goals and four assists, including the game-winner. Coquitlam also got a goal and three assists from Kean Moon, and a pair of goals from Jalen Chaster. Christian Del Bianco made 36 saves on 45 shots to earn the win.

Rhys Porteous led the Burrards with two goals and four assists. Maple Ridge also got two goals each from Garrett Winter, Klarich, and Carlson. Brandon Humphrey kept the Burrards in the game with 38 saves.

The win moves Coquitlam into first place with a 6–1–1 record and 13 points. New Westminster sits second at 6–0 with 12 points and two games in hand. Victoria is third at 5–1–1 with 11 points and one game in hand.

Low-Scoring First Period

Both offenses struggled to find their rhythm in the opening frame. Coquitlam opened the scoring with a goal from Chaster at 3:27.

Carlson tied the game 1–1 at 10:32. However, Jacob Saunders scored shorthanded with 7:16 remaining to give the Adanacs a 2–1 lead after the first period.

Back-and-Forth Second Period

The second period saw a dramatic shift as both teams combined for 12 goals.

Maple Ridge took the lead early. Winter scored just 1:01 into the period, followed by Klarich on the power play at 2:24 to make it 3–2 for the Burrards.

Rahe replied quickly for the Adanacs at 3:02 to tie it 3–3.

Porteous then scored twice to give Maple Ridge a two-goal cushion. He buried a feed from Ryan Jones at 4:26 and added another on the power play just 22 seconds later.

Coquitlam battled back with a three-goal run, starting with Clark Walter at 10:06.

Brett McIntyre tied the game shorthanded at 12:45, and Josh Jackson gave Coquitlam a 6–5 lead at 13:26.

Just 11 seconds later, Winter answered for Maple Ridge to tie it 6–6. But Chaster scored on the power play at 15:44, assisted by Rahe, to restore Coquitlam’s lead.

Payton Cormier tied the game once more with 2:32 left in the period, but David Charney scored with just 46 seconds remaining to give the Adanacs an 8–7 lead heading into the third.

James Rahe: The Overtime Hero

Maple Ridge clawed back in the third period to force overtime. Moon scored at 3:01 to put Coquitlam ahead 9–7.

The Burrards responded with Carlson scoring at 7:43, and Klarich netting the equalizer with 2:46 left in regulation.

In overtime, Rahe sealed the win just 45 seconds in, assisted by Moon and Walter, giving Coquitlam a thrilling 10–9 victory.
