Jones gets game-winner as Vegas survives Ottawa comeback

Las Vegas did just enough to poke the angry Black Bears at the tail end of the first half. Ottawa would then get things rocking and rolling themselves, scoring eight straight goals. Jeff Teat had a goal and four assists. Reilly O’Connor with back-to-back goals in the third quarter. The Black Bears doing a great job with ball movement, finding the open teammate and finishing the play.

Ottawa would score on 2 out of 3 power play opportunities, and seven different Black Bears scored a goal. Rob Hellyer had a nice night of productivity with two goals and four assists. Ottawa would come all the way back to tie things up in the 4th quarter at 9-9. However, Mitch Jones would have the Desert Dogs escape out of the teeth of defeat at the hands of the Black Bears. Chris Cloutier, who had 5 assists on the night, picks up his own offensive rebound, goes behind Ottawa’s net, and finds Mitch Jones for the finish. Las Vegas wins 10-9, evening their record at 1-1. The Black Bears drop to 1-2 on the season. Jones and the Desert Dogs travel to Toronto in Week 5, while Ottawa hosts Philadelphia.
