The Peterborough Lakers (2-2) visited the Brooklin Lacrosse Club (2-2) for game 4 of the Major Series Lacrosse semi-final playoff series Wednesday night at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Nick Rose in net for Peterborough facing Steve Orleman in net for Brooklin.
The Lakers started this game more focused than game three, jumping out to 3-1 and 5-2 leads as the period went along. Peterborough was spreading it around with five separate scorers in the frame.
Brooklin came out on fire in the second period scoring six goals to finally get a lead in the game. However, Peterborough’s special teams got them back in the game with a shorthanded goal, as well as a power-play marker to tie the game 8-8 heading to the third period.
Brooklin exploded for another seven goals in the third, including a natural hat-trick from Connor Kearnan to take total control of the game. Brooklin tied the series 2-2 with a dominant 15-9 victory.
To The Game:
The Lakers got rolling early with Thomas Hoggarth converting a Dustyn Birkhof pass at 3:09, but Holden Garlent tied things up in transition off a Zach Miller lead pass 0:29 seconds later.
Joe Resetarits gave Peterborough the lead once again with a blast from the side of the net off a Brad McCulley feed at 4:36, followed by Braedon Saris finishing a Mitch Ogilvie pass at 7:43 for a two goal cushion.
Will MacLeod brought Brooklin within one with a sidearm snipe off a Connor Kearnan pass at 10:56, but Taite Cattoni restored the two goal lead with a low to low shot off a Joe Resetarits pass at 14:52. Justin Sykes then added to the Lakers lead from in close off a Thomas Hoggarth pass at 17:33.
After one period, Peterborough 5 Brooklin 2.
Second Period:
Brooklin came storming out in the second period. Sean Westley converted a Connor Kearnan pass at 2:00, followed by Kearnan himself with an outside blast off a Zach Miller feed 0:41 seconds later. Connor Kearnan then converted a Sean Westley pass at 3:52 to tie the game.
Thomas Hoggarth gave the Lakers the lead once again scooping a Holden Cattoni rebound from in close at 8:23, but Eddie Renaud fired a laser from the outside off a Sean Westley pass at 10:59 to knot the game up once again.
Ryan Barnable fired an absolute howitzer off a Connor Kearnan pass at 11:38 to give Brooklin their first lead of the night, followed by Kearnan with a another low to low bounced shot that beat Nick Rose off a Zach Miller pass 0:13 seconds later.
Holden Cattoni brought Peterborough within one with a shorthanded marker that snuck past Steve Orleman off a Joe Resetarits pass at 13:48, followed by a sidearm snipe from Resetarits himself on the power-play off a Braedon Saris feed at 17:02.
After two periods, Peterborough 8 Brooklin 8.

Third Period:
Holden Cattoni opened the third period scoring with an outside blast off a Brad McCulley pass at 9:10, but Sean Westley tied the game in transition off a long lead pass from Steve Orleman at 12:33. Bo Columbus then gave Brooklin the lead off the ensuing faceoff unassisted 0:05 seconds later.
Jacob Hickey got on the scoresheet from Brooklin with an unassisted tally off a loose ball at 13:15, followed by Eddie Renaud with another outside laser off a Zach Miller pass at 13:44. Connor Kearnan then added another off a Will MacLeod feed at 14:14.
The Lakers replaced Nick Rose in net with Drew Hutchison.
Connor Kearnan scored his fifth of the game on the power-play off a Sean Westley pass at 17:43, followed by his sixth converting a penalty shot at 18:22.
Final score, Brooklin 15 Peterborough 9.
Shots on goal favored Peterborough 47-45.
