
The Brooklin Lacrosse Club (7-3) visited the Cobourg Kodiaks (4-6) on Sunday evening in Major Series Lacrosse action at the Cobourg Community Centre in Cobourg, Ontario.
The goalie match-up had Steve Orleman in net for Brooklin facing Jackson Brown in net for the Kodiaks.
In a game where Cobourg looked to run away with the game, a late surge from Brooklin made this a nail-biter in the long run. Up 7-6 on the third period, Cobourg scored a pair of goals midway through the period to take charge. Brooklin kept coming on the strength of Sean Westley ( 2g,3a) and Will MacLeod (4g,0a) to tighten the game up. Down 11-10, Brooklin ran out of time in their bid for a comeback. Cobourg wins 11-10.
To The Game:
Taggart Clark opened the scoring off a Connor Kearnan pass at 6:52, but Zach Thompson answered for the Kodiaks with a laser off an Alex Marinier pass at 7:16.
Marinier himself scored on a nice feed from Aaron Woods to give Cobourg the lead at 9:40, but a power-play goal from Will MacLeod scoring on the power-play to even the game once again at 11:02.
MacLeod then added another goal off a Sean Westley pass at 11:42, but a power-play goal from Alex Marinier again knotted the game up at 13:18.
Marinier scored his third of the period in transition off a Tom Collins pass at 17:04, but Taggert Clark sent the teams to the dressing again tied after a low to low laser off a Sean Westley pass at 17:45.
After one period, Brooklin 4 Cobourg 4.
Second Period:
Ty Thompson opened the second period scoring for Cobourg with a high to low blast off a Nick Ellerton pass at 1:35, but Taggert Clark answered again with a goal from in close off a Connor Kearnan pass on the power-play at 7:12.
A push near the end of the period sent the Kodiaks to the intermission in the lead.
Alex Marinier scored off an Aaron Woods pass at 16:24, followed by Ty Thompson converting a Nick Ellerton pass 0:26 seconds later.
After two periods, Cobourg 7 Brooklin 5.

Third Period:
Brooklin got within one goal with a transition goal from Justin Lee off a Ben McDonnell pass at 5:06, but goals from Ty Thompson and Dante Kulas put the Kodiaks in control with 10:17 remaining.
Sean Westley tried to get Brooklin back in the game with a shot to the corner at 10:48, but a power-play goal from Zach Thompson kept the lead at three.
Westley again brought the game within two, but again the Kodiaks answered with Aaron Woods finding the back of the net at 17:45.
Brooklin poured all their energy and resources into the final minutes. Will MacLeod finished a Connor Kearnan pass at 18:01, followed MacLeod quick sticking a Ben McDonnell pass at 19:36.
Brooklin kept pushing, but ran out of time in the game. Cobourg was able to hang on for the narrow one goal victory.
Final score, Cobourg 11 Brooklin 10.
Shots on goal favored Brooklin 59-49.
