The Brooklin Lacrosse Club (0-1) visited the Peterborough Lakers (1-0) in Major Series Lacrosse playoff action at the Memorial Centre in Peterborough, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Zach Higgins in net for Brooklin facing Nick Rose in net for the Lakers.
The Lakers set the tone early getting out to a three goal lead in the first half of the first period. Brooklin finally settled in about midway through the frame with the teams holding each other off the board the rest of the way.
Peterborough kept the pressure throughout the second frame chasing Zach Higgins in favor of Steve Orleman in the Brooklin net. Brooklin did get on the board with a pair of nice goals, but the combination of Joe Resetarits, Brad McCulley, Mike Robinson and the Cattoni brothers was just too powerful on this night. The Lakers took a 10-2 lead into the third period.
A much chippier period in the third, with both teams sending messages to one another. Although Peterborough won this one handily 12-4, there is a lot of lacrosse yet to be played in this series.
To The Game:
The Lakers got off to a quick start when Holden Cattoni found Thomas Hoggarth in front at 0:33 seconds, followed by Mike Robinson with a laser to the shortside off a Brad McCulley feed at 4:09. A give and go between Joe Resetarits and Thomas Hoggarth then saw Resetarits finish the play from in front at 9:02 to open a three goal lead.
After one period, Peterborough 3 Brooklin 0.
Second Period:
The Lakers got rolling with Braedon Saris firing a howitzer from the outside off a Holden Cattoni pass at 6:04, followed by Joe Resetarits bouncing a shot to the far side off a Carter Page pass 0:25 seconds later.
Holden Cattoni then fired a laser high to high to the top corner off a Mike Robinson pass at 6:59, followed by Taite Cattoni with a blast off a Braedon Saris pass at 10:35. Carter Page then placed a bounced shot in off a Joe Resetarits pass at 11:22.
Steven Orleman replaced Zach Higgins in the Brooklin net.
Brad McCulley welcomed Orleman to the game with a shot to the corner off a Taite Cattoni pass at 11:49.
Brooklin finally got on the board when Chris Boushy drove a shot through the five-hole of Nick Rose off a Connor Kearnan pass at 14:31, followed by Ryan Barnable with a high to low bounced shot off a Sean Westley pass on the power-play at 15:40.
Brad McCulley stopped the Brooklin momentum with his second of the game to the shortside off a Joe Resetarits pass shorthanded at 16:02.
After two periods, Peterborough 10 Brooklin 2.

Third Period:
Brady Kearnan opened up the third period scoring with an outside bounced shot off a Sean Westley pass at 1:25, but Taite Cattoni converted brother Holden’s pass at 7:10.
Holden Cattoni added another Lakers goal on a two man advantage firing an absolute howitzer off a Joe Resetarits pass at 8:11.
Brooklin kept pressing with a beautiful tic-tac-toe play. Taggart Clark passed to Brady Kearnan, who found Sean Westley with a quick stick at 14:51, but it was too little too late.
Final score, Peterborough 12 Brooklin 4.
Shots on goal favored the Lakers 47-46.
The Three Stars:
1. Joe Resetarits
2. Nick Rose
3. Taite Cattoni
