The Peterborough Lakers (4-0) faced the Owen Sound North Stars (1-2) Saturday night in Major Series Lacrosse action at the Meaford – St. Vincent Community Centre in Meaford, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Drew Hutchison in net for Peterborough facing Kaleb Martin in net for Owen Sound.
A see-saw battle that had both teams in position to win throughout the game. A fairly decent defensive struggle through the first two periods had the Lakers up 7-5.
The third period saw both offenses get on track. First the North Stars got going scoring five unanswered goals. Led by Jackson Webster and Dylan Watson, Owen Sound took a 10-7 lead by the halfway point of the period.
Not to be outdone, Peterborough stormed back with six of their own, three on the power-play. Austin Hasen led the way, with Cam Milligan involved ias the facilitator in three of the final six goals. The Lakers held on for the 13-10 victory.
To The Game:
Peterborough got on the board first when Mike Robinson converted a Carter Page pass to the corner at 0:47 seconds, but Tanner Buck evened the score with an outside shot off a Jackson Webster pass at 3:50.
Buck then scored his second of the period on the power-play off a loose ball in front, unassisted at 4:49, but Carter Page again tied the game with a quick stick off a Taite Cattoni feed at 12:43.
Austin Blumbergs put the North Stars back in the lead finishing a Josh Rosa pass at 13:10.
Carter Page’s second of the game again evened the score at 14:37, followed by a late goal from Payton Tasse on the power-play to give the Lakers the lead heading to the intermission.
After one period, Peterborough 4 Owen Sound 3.
Second Period:
Tanner Buck’s third of the game on the power-play tied the game off a Jackson Webster pass at 1:51, but Curtis Ward regained the Lakers lead with a sidearm snipe off a Cam Milligan pass at 8:55.
Colton Armstrong increased Peterborough’s lead shorthanded in transition off a turnover at 15:20, followed by a blast from Brad McCulley off a crisp Milligan feed at 15:51.
Owen Sound finally got back on the board when Jackson Webster fired a high to low shot off a Josh Sanchez pass at 17:55.
After two periods, Peterborough 7 Owen Sound 5.

Third Period:
The North Stars came out on fire in the third period with Jackson Webster scoring a pair of quick goals. The first was was off a Xander Derkatz pass at 0:22 seconds, followed by a howitzer from the outside also off a Derkatz pass at 3:41.
Dylan Watson then gave Owen Sound the lead shorthanded with a shot from the top of the crease off a Jackson Webster pass at 6:50, followed by Xander Derkatz with a screen shot off a Tyler Halls pass at 7:50. Dylan Watson then added his second of the period to keep the Owen Sound run going with a blast off a Jackson Webster pass at 9:44.
Brad McCulley finally stopped the North Stars six goal run on the power-play with an outside shot that caught the corner off a Cam Milligan pass at 12:12, followed by Austin Hasen also scoring on the power-play off a Milligan feed at 13:07.
Hasen then tied the game with a low to low shot off a Milligan pass at 15:14, followed by Frank Coyle finishing a Brad McCulley pass at 17:44.
Curtis Ward continued the comeback scoring on a delayed penalty at 18:53, followed by an empty net goal from Mike Robinson with just 0:10 seconds remaining to seal the deal.
Final score, Peterborough 13 Owen Sound 10.
