The Peterborough Lakers (1-0) traveled west to face the Brooklin Lacrosse Club (0-1) at the Iroquois Park Sports Complex in Whitby, Ontario.

The goaltending match-up had Drew Hutchison in net for Peterborough facing Lukas Coote in net for Brooklin.

For the first two periods Peterborough pretty much controlled the temporary of the game, outscoring the Brooklin squad 11-4 in that time.  Led by Holden Cattoni (2g,6a), Carter Page (2g,2a), and Thomas Hoggarth (2g,1a), Peterborough staked themselves to a seven goal lead, heading to the third period.

In the third however, the stagnant Brooklin offense came to life led by Taggart Clark (3g,0a), Chris Boushy (2g,0a), and Will MacLeod (2g,1a).  Brooklin scored six times in the period to narrow the margin to three goals.  Unfortunately, the hole was a bit too steep, and Brooklin succumbed to the Lakers 13-10.

To The Game:

The Lakers got on the board quickly when Carter Page converted a Brad McCulley pass just 0:32 seconds in, but Connor Kearnan evened the game on the power-play firing a Luke Keenan pass in at 2:13.

A pair of Holden Cattoni goals sandwiched a Dylan Hutchison marker just 2:23 apart from each other, and Peterborough was rolling.

After one period, Peterborough 4 Brooklin 1.

Second Period:

Taggart Clark and Jacob Hickey brought Brooklin within one goal early into the second, but a shorthanded goal from Colton Armstrong, followed by Brad McCulley with a blast just 1:11 apart had this a three goal again.  Koleton Marquis then increased the Lakers lead with a low to low shot at 6:07.

Brooklin changed goalies from Lukas Coote to Ryan Schuetzkowski.

Taite Cattoni welcomed Schuetzkowski to the game with a laser to the corner off a Holden Cattoni feed at 9:15.  Carter Page added a shorthanded goal at 14:11, followed by Thomas Hoggarth from in close off a Page feed at 15:44.

Will MacLeod stopped Peterborough’s run with a blast to the shortside off a Connor Kearnan pass at 15:54, but a late power-play goal for Hoggarth had the Lakers up by seven at the break.

After two periods, Peterborough 11 Brooklin 4.

Will MacLeod got Brooklin on the board quickly off a Jacob Hickey pass at 1:58, followed by Chris Boushy converting a Sean Westley pass from in close at 9:00.

Austin Hasen got one back for Peterborough at 9:25, but Taggart Clark scored his second of the game just 0:39 seconds later to keep Brooklin moving forward.

Taggart Clark scored his second of the game off a sweet feed from Connor Kearnan at 9:56, followed by Chris Boushy with his second of the game off a Brady Kearnan pass at 13:14 on the power-play.  Clark then added a shorthanded goal to bring Brooklin within three goals with just over five minutes to play.

Austin Hasen gave Peterborough some insurance with a power-play goal at 15:35.

Sean Westley added another Brooklin tally but it just wasn’t enough to dig out of the earlier hole they dug themselves.
