Major League Soccer has announced four additions to the roster for the 2026 MLS All-Star Game presented by Chime, with Inter Miami CF’s Yannick Bright, Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s Andrés Cubas, Houston Dynamo FC’s Guilherme, and Chicago Fire FC’s Philip Zinckernagel joining the squad as replacement selections.
The quartet replaces Hugo Cuypers, Rodrigo De Paul, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, and Lionel Messi, who will be unavailable for the annual showcase in Charlotte, North Carolina.
MLS confirmed that De Paul and Messi have been excused following the 2026 FIFA World Cup under an agreement between the league and the MLS Players Association. The policy allows clubs and players to determine appropriate rest and recovery periods after international competition.
Each replacement has enjoyed an impressive campaign.
Bright earns his first MLS All-Star selection after becoming an important piece of Inter Miami’s midfield. The Italian has helped the reigning MLS Cup champions to a 9-2-1 record in his 12 starts while contributing two assists.
Cubas also receives his first All-Star nod after anchoring Vancouver’s midfield. The Paraguayan international played every minute of his country’s run to the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 and has helped the Whitecaps climb to the top of the Western Conference.
Houston’s Guilherme has quickly emerged as one of MLS’s breakout stars. The Brazilian forward has totaled eight goals and five assists in just 15 league appearances, leading all MLS newcomers in goal contributions.
Meanwhile, Chicago Fire forward Philip Zinckernagel returns to the All-Star roster for a second consecutive season. The Danish Designated Player has continued his outstanding form with five goals and seven assists after recording 30 goal contributions in 2025.
The 2026 MLS All-Star Game will be played on Wednesday, July 29, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, where the MLS All-Stars will face the LIGA MX All-Stars.
