The Owen Sound North Stars (0-1) visited the Six Nations Chiefs (1-0) in Major Series Lacrosse playoff action at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Haggersville, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Andrew Kidd in net for Owen Sound facing Warren Hill in net for the Chiefs.
The Six Nations Chiefs came out on a mission dominating the first period to set rhe tone of the game. Two goals each from Dhane Smith and Shayne Jackson helped stake the Chiefs to a 6-0 first period lead over the Owen Sound North Stars.
The North Stars made a game of it in the second period coming within in two, scoring five in the period. However, the Chiefs ended the period with another three goal run, to keep the game at hand leading 10-5.
The third period featured the superb goaltending of both Andrew Kidd and Warren Hill. Both goalies only gave up one in the period. Six Nations wins game one 11-6.
To The Game:
Six Nations got off to a fast start when Dhane Smith quick sticked a Josh Byrne pass at 2:14, followed by Shayne Jackson with a bounced shot that handcuffed Andrew Kidd 0:30 seconds later.
Ryan Smith continued the early barrage converting a Dhane Smith pass in front at 3:59, followed by Josh Byrne with a high to low shot to the shortside off a an Ian MacKay flip pass at 6:17.
Dhane Smith then quick sticked an Ian MacKay pass from the side of the net at 9:44, followed by Shayne Jackson with his second of the period off a Larson Sundown pass at 11:34.
After one period, Six Nations 6 Owen Sound 0.
Second Period:
Owen Sound finally got on the board when Isiah Moran-Weekes converted a Tanner Buck pass with a quick stick from the top of the crease at 1:28, followed by Tanner Buck with a blast from in front off a Braydon Mayea pass on the power-play at 2:28.
Dhane Smith ‘s third of the night was yet another quick stick off a Shayne Jackson pass at 6:32, but Isiah Moran-Weekes blasted a Braydon Mayea bounced pass from in front at 8:17 for the North Stars.
Owen Sound kept pushing with Braydon Mayea scoring on the power-play off a Josh Sanchez pass at 11:53, followed by Xander Derkatz also on the power-play with a blast from in front off a Jamie Hunt pass at 12:01.
The Chiefs got back on track with Dhane Smith converting an Ian MacKay pass at 17:25, followed by Larson Sundown finishing a Justin Martin pass in transition at 19:03. Dhane Smith added a buzzer beater at 19:59 to open a five goal lead for the Chiefs at the break.
After two periods, Six Nations 10 Owen Sound 5.

Third Period:
After 17:00 scoreless minutes in the period, Noah Millsap got the North Stars on the board with a low to low shot unassisted at 17:16, but a transition goal from Justin Martin at 18:14 kept the lead at five.
Final score, Six Nations 11 Owen Sound 6.
Shots on goal favored Six Nations 65-46.
