Not Having An Answer In Columbus, Ohio

After 11 games, the Philadelphia Union got a taste of defeat, losing to the Columbus Crew 1-0. Philly just could not come up with an answer to win this game. This was a close defense battle between the two clubs. Philly brought the offensive pressure on in the second half of this game. Seeking a scoring option to develop a solution. Even though the Philadelphia Union didn’t win the game tonight, there were some positives to take away for the Union. This Philly defense is rock solid and holding Columbus to a one-goal differential. Now Philly will look to get back into the win column this upcoming weekend as they wrap up their road trip. However, it’s going to be a tall order when they face Nashville.

The Columbus Crew Finishes June Undefeated.

The Columbus Crew had a strong homestand in June. Where the Crew went undefeated, beating   Vancouver, Atlanta, and now Philadelphia. Columbus in this game had a great game plan of long stretch passes, making nice across passes off the rush, and that’s how Columbus would get on the scoreboard. Lassi Lappalainen makes a great across-pass to Mohamed Farsi for his first goal of the season, and credits the Crew with their defense for breaking up the scoring opportunities from Philly. Columbus is walking out of this game with a clean sheet, beating the top team in the Eastern Conference is a big deal. We should see if the Crew can continue their hot streak on the road as they head up to face the Seattle Sounders.
