The New York City football club pulled off a stunning shootout win against Fc Cincinnati as the team from The Bronx moves on past the best of 32 face the New York red bowls at city field in 2 weeks. The team Kama who landed sixth in the East faced off against Fc Cincinnati trading victories in the first 2 matches before a winner-take-all game 3.
For much of the match it was a sluggish affair with NYCFC not even registering a shot on goal until the final minutes of the second half while Fc Cincinnati continue to test goalkeeper Matt freeze,
Finally reaching a shootout, it was back and forth success and failure for both teams across a full heat round, With both teams scoring on their first 3 shots and James Sands picking up the team’s 4th shot after Pavel Bucha missed his. In the end it took a full 9 shots before 19 year old Mitja Ilenic ended the shootout, pushing NYCFC to the next round against the New York Red Bulls on November 23.
