Oakville Stuns Lakers In A Hard Fought Victory

The Peterborough Lakers (5-1) hosted the Oakville Rock (1-3) at the Memorial Centre in Peterborough, Ontario in Major Series Lacrosse action Thursday night.

The goaltending match-up had Nick Rose in net for Peterborough facing Landon Kells in net for the Rock.

The Oakville Rock finally got the monkey off their backs with their first win of the season over the Lakers 9-7.  Sam LeClair (3g,0a), and Tyler Hendryks (2g,0a) led the offense for Oakville, while Joe Resetarits (2g,2a), and Thomas Hoggarth (2g,1a) led for the Lakers.

Peterborough took the lead in the third period with goals from Joe Resetarits and Holden Cattoni.  However, Sam LeClair and Tyler Hendryks regained the Rock lead.  Zack Kearney added an empty net goal for the Oakville victory.

To The Game:

Joe Resetarits opened the scoring for Peterborough on the power-play from the side of the net off a Thomas Hoggarth pass at 9:27, but Josh Dawick evened the game with a great move on the top of the crease off a Bauer Swystyn pass at 11:19.

Tyler Hendryks gave Oakville their first lead with a nice move from the top of the crease off a Zane Dalpe pass at 15:50, but an in close shot from Brad McCulley off a Joe Resetarits feed tied the game heading to the intermission.

After one period, Oakville 2 Peterborough 2.

Second Period:

Sam LeClair opened the second period scoring for Oakville finishing a Josh Dawick pass at 0:38 seconds, followed by a transition goal from Kaden Brennan off a long lead pass from Landon Kells at 10:03.

Thomas Hoggarth brought the Lakers within one converting an Austin Hasen pass at 12:19, but a transition goal from Chris Weier unassisted at 13:07 restored the two goal Rock lead.

Taite Cattoni fired a screenshot from the outside off an Austin Hasen pass at 13:41, but Sam LeClair’s second of the game off a Josh Dawick pass again had Oakville up by two.

Thomas Hoggarth finished a Carter Page feed from in front at 17:38 to bring the game within one.

After two periods, Oakville 6 Peterborough 5.

Third Period:

The Lakers got rolling early in this period with Joe Resetarits converting a Holden Cattoni pass at 3:25, followed by Cattoni himself scoring with a blast off an Austin Hasen pass at 5:23.

Tyler Hendryks tied the game off a Sheldon Burns pass at 9:08, followed by Sam LeClair with shot off a Luke Robinson rebound at 12:39.  Zack Kearney added an empty net goal to seal the deal at 19:41.

Final score, Oakville 9 Peterborough 7.

Shots on goal favored Peterborough 54-43.
