The Philadelphia Union starts things off on the track, under 10 minutes of the game. Quinn Sullivan, with some spacing, unloads and goes top shelf, getting Philly on the scoreboard early. Philly is doing a good job of getting into their defensive zone and breaking up plays for Miami. However, Inter Miami is having great possession of the ball. Philadelphia’s defense is making big stops, protecting their young goalkeeper, Andrew Rick. The Philadelphia Union is now putting offensive pressure on Miami’s goalkeeper. Tai Barbio finds the back of the net. The Philadelphia Union is heading into the locker room, leaving the first half up 2-0 against Miami.
2nd Half. Both Philly and Miami went back and forth with a good defensive battle, but in the 59th minute, Tadeo Allende scored a header goal with little spacing between two defenders. Philly answers back, Danley Jean Jacques makes a pass to Tai Barbio, and Tai Barbio does the dirty work low and scores a goal, extending the Union’s lead 3-1. The Union played off their momentum again, bringing more pressure to Miami’s doorstep. Lionel Messi would get plenty of kicks and send the ball to the top left part of the net for Miami’s 2nd goal. This game has high intensity and a lot of energy from both clubs, Miami’s battle back and ties things up at 3 a piece.
Aftermath: Tai Baribo got a pair of goals in tonight’s game, getting his 13th goal of the year. Quinn Sullivan is recording his 2nd goal of the year. This would be the Union’s 3rd draw at home. The Union moves to 9 wins,3 losses, and 3 ties with 30 points, sitting at the 1 seed. Tadeo Allende gets his 5th goal of the season Lionel Messi gets his 6th goal of the year. Telasco Segovia gets his 4th goal of the year. Inter Miami moves to 6 wins,3 losses, and 5 ties with 23 points and sits at the 6 seed. Inter Miami feels good about walking out of Philly with a draw, but in my opinion, Miami needs to figure out why they have been averaging giving up 3 goals in their last 4 games. The good thing for Inter Miami is that they’re going to be home for their next two games, and for Philly, they are hitting the road for their next two games. 1st stop up in Toronto, then down to Dallas. We shall see how things play out for Philly.
