The Riverhounds kicked off against Orange County FC Saturday night, coming off an impressive win against Rhode Island. The first half was a defensive gridlock. The Riverhounds struggled to get quality scoring opportunities. Orange County FC opened up the scoring in the 40th minute on a header by Ethan Zubak, his 6th goal of the season. Riverhounds were somewhat undisciplined by halftime, they committed 15 fouls to Orange County 1 and 3 yellow cards. Despite the lack of scoring opportunities, they led 55% to 45% in possession. Early in the second half, the Riverhounds had some set plays that generated quality scoring chances but to no avail as they were kept off the score sheet early on. In the 64th minute, Jackson Walti of the Riverhounds had a blistering shot on the net but was thwarted away by Orange County FC’s goalkeeper Colin Shutler.

The Riverhounds got the equalizer in the 67th minute on a header by Guillaume Vacter, his first of the season off a set piece cornerkick. The match went into stoppage time 1-1, but 6 minutes weren’t able to break the draw. The Riverhounds are back home at Highmark next week, August 16, at 7 pm against the Charleston Battery.
