The Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ five-match unbeaten run was put under serious pressure at Highmark Stadium, as Miami FC came calling and threatened to spoil the party. From the first whistle, the visitors pinned the Hounds deep, dictating play in the attacking third and forcing Pittsburgh onto the back foot.
Early pressure from Miami FC saw the ball constantly bouncing around the Riverhounds’ penalty area. In the 20th minute, Pittsburgh finally worked a set piece when M Robbie Mertz swung in a corner, only for Miami to clear with bodies on the line. Five minutes later, a fierce low drive tested Riverhounds GK Dick, who got down quickly to parry it away.
A collision in the 30th minute briefly halted play, but Dick was unshaken, diving to deny another effort soon after. Just before halftime, M Perrin Barnes curled a free ball to M Bradley Sample, whose header rattled the inside of the post before bouncing to safety—another heart-in-mouth moment for the home side.

Miami FC resumed with fluid passing and retained upward of 60% possession, but clear chances remained scarce. Dick continued his heroics in the 48th minute with a fingertip save and again in the 51st minute when a driving shot clanged off the crossbar.
Pittsburgh grew into the game and, after a 52nd-minute yellow card slowed the visitors, fashioned a couple of half-chances through Sample, who agonizingly missed the target. A scheduled hydration break in the 70th minute came just as a Miami player picked up a head knock, briefly pausing the ebb and flow.
Despite Miami’s continued dominance, it was their number nine F Francisco Bonfiglio who finally broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute, steering home a loose ball to make it 1–0. The Highmark faithful braced for defeat, but the Hounds refused to lie down. Deep into stoppage time, M Junior Etou sent a cross and the delivery met the head of a sliding M Charles Ahl, who poked the ball past the keeper to spark jubilant scenes, in front of the over 5,000 fans in attendance, and secured a dramatic 1–1 draw.
Up next, the Hounds host Rhode Island at Highmark Stadium.
