Rock Ride A Four Goal Run To Victory

The Oakville Rock (4-7) traveled north to face the Brampton Excelsiors (1-10) in Major Series Lacrosse action Thursday night at the Memorial Arena in Brampton, Ontario.

The goaltending match-up had Troy Holowchuk in net for the Rock facing Riley Hutchcraft in net for the Excelsiors.

In a rematch from last week, the Brampton Excelsiors and the Oakville Rock played an exciting end to end game for most of the night.  Brampton got out to a 2-0 lead into the second period when the Rock’s offense woke up.  For the next 40 minutes, Oakville outscored the Excelsiors 10-5 to come away with the 10-7 victory.

Oakville was led by Zane Dalpe (3g,1a), Josh Dawick (2g,1a), Chris Weier (3g,0a), and Luke Robinson (2g,0a).  For Brampton, Mike Triolo (2g,0a) led the offense with a pair of markers, with James Whiteford (1g,2a), Bowie Horsman (1g,1a), and Finlay Thomson (1g,1a) chipping in.

To The Game:

After over half a period of scoreless end to end action, the Excelsiors opened the scoring with James Whiteford picking the corner off a Dante Bowen pass at 11:48.  They soon followed it up with Mike Triolo shooting through the five-hole off a Finlay Thomson feed 0:40 seconds later.

After one period, Brampton 2 Oakville 0.

Second Period:

The Rock got back into the game when Zane Dalpe scored on the power-play off a Josh Dawick pass at 10:25, followed by Dawick himself with a blast off a Jack McAlpine pass 0:12 seconds later.

Seth Van Schepen gave Brampton the lead once again in transition scoring off a Liam Patten lead pass shorthanded at 11:32, but Dawick’s second of the night off a Kaden Brennan pass at 12:56 tied the game once more.

Chris Weier gave Oakville their first lead of the night converting a Ty English pass at 13:08, but Finlay Thomson would tie the game with a low to low howitzer off a James Whiteford feed just 0:16 seconds later.

Rory Graham put the Excelsiors in the lead at 13:51 off a Ben Baker pass, but Luke Robinson would answer for Oakville with a sidearm snipe off a Zane Dalpe pass at 15:09 in this see-saw affair.

After two periods, Brampton 5 Oakville 5.

Salmonbellies

Third Period:

Zane Dalpe opened the third period scoring setting the pace with a blast off a Phil Mazzuca pass at 0:21 seconds, but Mike Triolo answered with a beauty from in close off a Matt Pereira pass at 6:32.

The Rock soon got rolling putting a four goal run together. 

Zane Dalpe scored his third of the night off a Luke Dawick pass at 8:58, followed by Chris Weier finishing a Mike McCannell pass low to the stickside of Hutchcraft at 10:08.

Weier added another to the same spot again off a McCannell feed at 14:55, followed by Luke Robinson converting a Jack McAlpine pass at 16:01.

Bowie Horsman tried to get Brampton back in the game with a laser to the corner off a Lucas Dudemaine pass at 16:23, but it was too little too late.

Final score, Oakville 10 Brampton 7.
