The Owen Sound North Stars (2-4) visited the Six Nations Chiefs (6-1) in Major Series Lacrosse action Tuesday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville, Ontario.
The goaltending match-up had Andrew Kidd in net for the North Stars facing Warren Hill in net for the Chiefs.
A spirited period played by Owen Sound kept the Six Nations machine to only a pair of goals. Both Andrew Kidd and Warren Hill set the stage with some great saves to keep the low scoring game close.
In the second period, the Chiefs ramped up their pressure. Making more of an impact. Josh Byrne, Ryan Smith, and Cody Jamieson led the way for the Chiefs. The Chiefs special teams came to life in the period as well. Six Nations took an 11-3 lead heading to the third period.
While the scoring wasn’t as fluid in the third, the intensity kept increasing. A number of scrums saw the penalty minutes for both sides increase. Ryan Smith continued his hot night with two more goals to give him five on the night. Six Nations won convincingly 14-5.
To The Game:
The North Stars opened the scoring with Jake McNabb finding the open side of the net off an Austin Blumbergs pass at3:11.
Cody Jamieson tied the game on the power-play with an outside rip from high to low off a Ryan Smith pass at 5:05, then adding a backhand beauty off a Lyle Thompson feed at 6:10,
After one period, Six Nations 2 Owen Sound 1.
Second Period:
Ryan Smith opened the second period scoring with a great individual effort rushing towards the net off a Josh Byrne pass at 2:18, followed by another highlight reel goal from Josh Byrne in close off a Cody Jamieson pass at 4:24.
Lyle Thompson then fired a low to low skip shot off a Cody Jamieson pass 5:27, but Jake McNabb answered with his second of the game from the outside off a Tanner Buck feed at 6:46.
Ian MacKay added to the Chiefs lead with a howitzer that Andrew Kidd got a piece of but still trickled in the net, off a Lyle Thompson pass at 8:07, followed by Davin Bomberry finishing a Cody Jamieson pass from in close at 9:53.
Dhane Smith joined the scoresheet on the power-play with a screenshot off a Cody Jamieson pass at 12:07, but a power-play goal from Jake McNabb stopped the Chiefs run off a Jackson Webster pass at 15:33.
Ryan Smith then added his second and third of the night. The first was a shot through the wickets shorthanded off a Josh Byrne feed at 17:47, followed by a quick stick off a Josh Byrne pass at 19:53. Brendan Bomberry then scored a buzzer beater off a Cody Jamieson pass at 19:59.
After two periods, Six Nations 11 Owen Sound 3.

Third Period:
Mitch Wilde got the scoring going in third for Owen Sound with a laser off a Liam McGrath pass at 2:56, but Josh Byrne answered with an absolute beauty off a Dhane Smith pass at 3:27.
Ryan Smith added his fourth of the night with a bounced shot off an Ian MacKay pass at 8:58, but Jackson Webster answered beating Warren Hill low tonthe stick side off a Tanner Buck pass at 13:18.
Ryan Smith scored his fifth of the game shorthanded off a Josh Byrne feed at 15:29.
Final score, Six Nations 14 Owen Sound 5.
