Shamrocks Get Back in the Win Column Against Timbermen

The Victoria Shamrocks got back in the win column with a convincing 12–7 victory over the Nanaimo Timbermen on Sunday night.

The game was tied 3–3 after the first period, but Victoria outscored Nanaimo 9–2 over the final two frames, including a dominant seven-goal run.

Zach Manns and Marshal King led the way for the Shamrocks, each recording three goals and three assists. Patrick Dodds also added a hat trick, while Andrew Kew chipped in with two goals and four assists.

Cam Dunkerley got the start in goal for Victoria and stopped 41 of 48 shots in the win.

Ryan Sheridan was the top scorer for the Timbermen, tallying two goals and three assists for five points. Mason Pynn added a pair of goals, while Colby Bowman stopped 43 of 55 shots in net for Nanaimo.

The win helps Victoria keep pace with New Westminster and Coquitlam in the race for the top three spots.

Timbermen Keep Pace in the First

Victoria jumped out to a 2–0 lead in the first period. Manns opened the scoring 5:10 into the game, and Dodds added the second less than two minutes later.

Nanaimo responded to tie the game. Luke Pilcher scored on the power play at 10:22, followed by Pynn at 14:22 to make it 2–2.

Marshal King regained the lead for Victoria at 15:19, but Sheridan answered just 20 seconds later to knot the game 3–3 heading into the intermission.

Shamrocks Begin to Pull Away

The Timbermen started the second period strong. Brenden Boyle scored unassisted and shorthanded just 1:24 in to give Nanaimo its first lead of the night.

Dodds tied it back up at 3:38, but Nanaimo responded again with a second shorthanded goal—this time from Sheridan at 7:55.

Manns tied the game 5–5 at 10:41, kicking off a seven-goal run for the Shamrocks that spanned the remainder of the second and into the third.

Kew put Victoria ahead at 15:37, and with 1:15 left in the period, Marshal King scored again to give the Shamrocks a 7–5 lead heading into the third.

Shamrocks Back to Their Winning Ways

Victoria poured it on early in the third. Dodds scored at 1:32, followed by Cole Pickup at 2:12 with an assist from Dodds.

Manns added a power-play goal at 4:18, and Kew capped the run at 5:23 to make it 11–5.

Tyson Nielsen, assisted by Chase Miller, ended Nanaimo’s 18:24 scoring drought at 6:19.

Marshal King replied with a power-play goal at 10:08, and although Pynn got one back for Nanaimo with 5:52 left, Victoria held firm to get back in the win column 12-7.
