After dropping the first two games of the Mann Cup, the Six Nations Chiefs have evened the series with a 10-3 win over the New Westminster Salmonbellies on Tuesday night in Game 4.
The best-of-seven is now tied 2-2 heading into Game 5.
Doug Jamieson was outstanding in goal for Six Nations, stopping 47 of 50 shots and shutting out New Westminster in both the first and third periods.
The Salmonbellies’ offence went quiet for the second straight game, with only Marcus Klarich, Tye Kurtz and Will Malcom finding the back of the net.
For the second game in a row, Frank Scigliano was pulled from the Salmonbellies’ crease. He was lifted late in the third period after allowing nine goals on 49 shots. Justin Geddie came on in relief, facing two shots and giving up one goal.
Once again, Six Nations’ depth was the difference. Dhane Smith, Ian MacKay and Ryan Smith each recorded five points, with Ryan Smith scoring four times.
Low-Scoring First Period
Neither team gave much in the opening frame, as Six Nations took a 2-0 lead while Jamieson stopped all 13 shots he faced.
Shayne Jackson opened the scoring just 1:06 into the game. The teams then went scoreless for over 12 minutes until MacKay doubled the lead at 13:41.

Chiefs Keep Rolling
Six Nations came out strong in the second, adding three more goals. Ryan Smith scored shorthanded at 4:26, Jackson netted his second at 11:20, and Smith struck again at 13:36 to make it 6-0.
Just 10 seconds later, Klarich got New Westminster on the board with a power-play goal, diving from behind the net to beat Jamieson.
Kurtz added another with 1:56 left in the period, and Malcom scored with 13 seconds remaining to close the gap to 6-3 after 40 minutes.
Six Nations Even Up The Series
The third period belonged entirely to Six Nations, as Jamieson stopped all 13 shots to preserve the win.
Staats set up Ryan Smith at 2:51, and Graeme Hossack fed Dawson Theede at 7:50 to extend the lead to 8-3.
Smith completed his four-goal night at 12:10, and MacKay capped things off with a shorthanded tally at 16:27 to make it 10-3.
Tempers boiled over with 3:19 left, as Elijah Gash and Steve Priolo dropped the gloves and traded haymakers. But when the final whistle blew, it was Six Nations tying the series at 2-2.
We've got HAYMAKERS being thrown between The New Westminster Salmonbellies' Elijah Gash & Six Nations Chiefs' Steve Priolo.
