Steelers Break Camp Early at Saint Vincent College

The Steelers officially broke camp a day early at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe due to projected inclement weather moving through Westmoreland County. Despite the early conclusion, this year’s camp was widely viewed as a structured success, with head coach Mike McCarthy meticulously mapping out each day to maximize development and sharpen the details needed for a strong 2026 season.

McCarthy addressed the media Monday and spoke glowingly about the unique environment Saint Vincent provides.“ Our best practices are when the fans are out there, and it’s an awesome environment to be in,” McCarthy said.

He also hinted that he may consider adjusting next year’s camp schedule, though he emphasized that those decisions will come later. What he made clear, however, is how much he values the camaraderie and bonding that Latrobe fosters. “I really think this is not only a special place, but this is a great place to train a football team.”

With camp now officially closed, the Steelers will take Tuesday off before returning to the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side for padded practices beginning Wednesday. Thursday will feature a full game‑simulation session, followed by a Friday morning walk‑through ahead of their second preseason matchup — a Friday night showdown with the New York Jets at Acrisure Stadium.
