The Heavyweight showdown between two top teams in the MLS Eastern Conference. One of the biggest storylines going into this game. This is the return of Daniel Gazdag going against his old Philadelphia Union club. So far, both the Columbus Crew and Philly are playing extremely well in their defensive zone here in the early going. Neither defense is giving an edge. Both offenses are getting opportunities to score, however, neither team can come up with the finish.
What great vision by the goalkeeper, Andrew Rick, by finding Quinn Sullivan with a long stretch pass, Quinn Sullivan linking up with Tai Baribo for his goal.
2nd Half.
Getting To Philly’s Blind Spots: The Columbus Crew would get back on the scoreboard to even things up with the Crew moving the ball, making a nice, quick pass, and finding Max Arfsten left alone, and getting a goal by Andrew Rick. However, it didn’t take long for Philly to answer back with Union players trying to make plays down low, but it would be Francis Westfield who would come up with the loose chance to make the big play, striking from distances. In the last minutes of this game, Centre back for the Columbus Crew, Sean Zawadzki would get into a blind spot down low and tie things up at the end, leaving this game to end in a draw.
The Aftermath:
Tai Baribo gets his 8th goal of the season. Francis Westfield gets his 1st goal of the season. The Philadelphia Union now falls to the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 7-3-2. This is Philly’s second draw at home.
Max Arfsten gets his 3rd goal for the Columbus Crew. Dylan Chambost gets his 5th assist of the night, leading the Crew in assists
