Ty English The Hero As Rock Win In Overtime

The Cobourg Kodiaks (6-8) traveled west to face the Oakville Rock (5-7) in Major Series Lacrosse action at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario.

The goaltending match-up had Landon Kells in net for the Rock facing Jackson Brown in net for the Kodiaks.

Although the Oakville Rock badly outshot the Cobourg Kodiaks, the stellar play of Jackson Brown in net kept the Kodiaks in the game. 

Down 2-1 after one period, the Kodiaks played much more aggressive in the second finding the net five times.  The Rock came out on a mission to win the game in the third period, but once again Jackson Brown was spectacular making 17 of 18 saves in the frame.  The teams headed to overtime tied 7-7 after regulation.

In the extra period, Oakville wasted no time with Ty English scoring just 0:09 seconds in for the 8-7 victory.

Ty Thompson (3g,5a) and Thunder Hill (2g,2a) led the way for Cobourg.  Ty English (2g,1a), Luke Robinson (2g,1a), and Ty English (2g,1a) led the way for Oakville.

To The Game:

Cobourg started quickly with Ty Thompson converting a Zach Thompson pass at 0:51 seconds, but Mike McCannell tied the game in transition unassisted at 4:07.

Carson Moyer gave the Rock their first lead with a laser from in front off a Jack McAlpine pass at 16:10.

After one period, Oakville 2 Cobourg 1.

Second Period:

Ty English increased Oakville’s lead with a low to low shot off a Mike McCannell pass at 0:18 seconds, but Thunder Hill with a blast followed by Aaron Woods from in close tied the game at 4:51.

Ty Thompson put Cobourg back in the lead with a pair of goals.  His second goal of the game came off a Jake Harrington pass at 6:23, followed by an outside blast again off a Harrington feed at 11:18.

The Rock stormed back with three goals to take control.  Josh Dawick brought the Rock within one with a sidearm snipe low to the corner at 11:42, followed by a pair from Luke Robinson.  A quick stick off a Josh Dawick pass at 15:51, followed by a laser off a Zack Kearney pass at 18:14.

Thunder Hill struck unassisted for the Kodiaks at 18:14 to tie the game heading to the break.

After two periods, Cobourg 6 Oakville 6.

Lakers

Third Period:

Jack Bucknell opened the third period scoring, giving the Kodiaks the lead at 6:14, but Zane Dalpe tied the game with a low to low laser off a Sam LeClair pass at 11:02.

After regulation, Oakville 7 Cobourg 7.

Overtime:

In the overtime, Ty English ended the game just 0:09 seconds in, grabbing a pass from Mike McCannell off the faceoff making no mistake.

Final score, Oakville 8 Cobourg 7.
Shots on goal favored the Rock 57-39.
