Wings Salvage Weekend Edging Warriors

Philadelphia, PA – The Vancouver Warriors (3-3) visited the Philadelphia Wings (5-2) Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center.  Vancouver was looking to split their weekend after a narrow loss to the Ottawa Black Bears on Friday.  Philadelphia was looking to get back in the win column after losing to Buffalo on Saturday night.

First Quarter:

Mitch Jones gave the home crowd something to cheer about converting a Holden Cattoni pass at 2:10, but the Warriors answered back loudly with three consecutive goals.

Adam Charalambides scored quickly off a Kevin Crowley pass, followed by Keegan Bal and Riley Loewen scoring 0:30 seconds apart for a 3-1 Vancouver lead.

The Wings however would storm back with four of their own to end the quarter.  Brennan O’Neil blasted a Blaze Riorden feed to the far corner, followed by Tony Malcolm finishing a Mitch Jones feed at 7:06.  Jones himself got on the board finishing a Holden Cattoni pass, followed by Scott Dominey in transition at 13:56.

After one quarter, Philadelphia 5 Vancouver 3.

Second Quarter:

Mitch Jones added to the Wings lead early in the second, but a flurry of Warriors activity would change the complexion of the game.

Adam Charalambides finished a Keegan Bal pass at 5:53, followed by Bal himself converting a Charalambides feed at 9:20.  Jonathan Peshko scored just 0:40 seconds later.

Marcus Klarich gave the Warrior the lead with a low to low laser off a Keegan Bal pass at 11:43, followed by Adam Charalambides with a sidearm snipe off a Bal pass at 13:04.

Holden Cattoni stopped the bleeding with an absolute howitzer off a Joe Resetarits feed at 14:35.

At the half, Vancouver 8 Philadelphia 7.

Desert Dogs

Third Quarter:

Adam Charalambides opened the second half scoring with his fourth of the game off a Keegan Bal pass at 0:27 seconds, followed by Owen Grant finishing a Reid Bowering pass at 3:22 and the Wells Fargo Center was silent.

Joe Resetarits gave the fans something to cheer for scoring the next two goals.  The first was on the power-play off a Mitch Jones pass at 8:36, followed by an even strength goal again off a Jones feed 0:30 seconds later.

After three quarters, Vancouver 10 Philadelphia 9.

Fourth Quarter:

The Wings put together a run of four goals to again change the complexion of the game.  Mitch Jones led the way with a goal and three helpers in the run.  Brennan O’Neill added a pair of goals as well.

A late surge from the Warriors had them down just a goal with 1:45 remaining, but the Wings defense and Nick Damude were able to hold on for the victory.

Final score, Philadelphia 14 Vancouver 13.
