With Just Weeks Until Training Camp and Friendlies, NYCFC Still Not Finalized on Head Coach Front

The New York City Football Club is now just 4 weeks away from it’s first friendly and even closer to training camp, yet the announcement of a new head coach curiously has not yet arrived. The team, who it’s heavily rumored to be have as it’s new head coach Pascal Jansen from Ferencváros in Hungary have not finalized the process, leaving the fans nervous and the team slightly disorganized.

If it is in fact Jansen, chances are the team has internally known about it for a while. Players like stability and even if it’s not announced, a squad knowing who now will be in charge is key to their comfort level. If this is the case, personally I’m okay with it, however still slightly confused. I for one could understand waiting until after the Christmas holiday before making the announcement, even waiting until after the new year, but at this point nearly a week into 2025 I’m curious what the hold up is. Again, if it’s Jansen, could it be a Visa issue? That’s been known to plague MLS and even NYCFC in the past, and is something teams don’t usually make public until necessary.

As for the fans, they’re edgy. It’s been two months since Nick Cushing’s dismissal from the squad and they want to know what’s up with their club. Comments on social media have been heavy with impatience.

So when will we get an answer? Short answer is anytime now. I’ll keep you posted, but for the sake of the fans and everyone else, sooner is better than later here.
