The Victoria Shamrocks picked up a key win, defeating the Coquitlam Adanacs 8-4 on Friday night at The Q Centre.

The victory lifts Victoria past Coquitlam into second place in the WLA standings. The Shamrocks now hold a 6-1-1 record with a game in hand, while the Adanacs fall to 6-2-1.

Coquitlam got off to a strong start, taking a 4-2 lead after the first period, but Victoria’s goaltender Chris Origlieri shut the door from there. Origlieri turned aside all 25 shots he faced in the second and third periods as the Shamrocks outscored the Adanacs 6-0 over the remainder of the game.

Andrew Kew led the charge for Victoria with a hat trick—including two goals in the first period—and added two assists for a five-point night. Chris Wardle chipped in with a pair of goals and two assists.

For Coquitlam, Adam Noakes paced the offense with a goal and two assists. Goaltender Christian Del Bianco stopped 44 of 52 shots in the loss.

Adanacs Jump Out Early

Coquitlam came out strong in the first period, opening the scoring just over four minutes in. David Charney struck first at 4:01, followed by Kean Moon at 7:47, and Noakes at 12:58 to give the Adanacs an early 3-0 lead.

Victoria responded late in the period, with Andrew Kew scoring twice in under a minute—once at 17:00 and again at 17:44—to cut the lead to 3-2.

Coquitlam regained a two-goal cushion with 12 seconds left in the period on a goal from Riley Isaacs, taking a 4-2 lead into the first intermission.

Shamrocks Dominate the Second

The second period belonged entirely to the Shamrocks.

Mathieu Gautier opened the scoring at 2:50, and Elijah Gash tied the game 4-4 with an unassisted goal midway through the frame.

Patrick Dodds gave Victoria its first lead at 10:33, and just 24 seconds later, Kew completed his hat trick to make it 6-4 at the end of the second.

Origlieri Slams the Door

Chris Origlieri was perfect in the final two periods, stopping 25 consecutive shots—including 13 in the third. His performance allowed the Shamrocks to control the tempo and protect their lead.

The third remained scoreless until Chris Wardle broke through at 9:38 to put Victoria up by three. Wardle added another at 11:58 to seal the key win for the Shamrocks, 8-4.
